There has never been a player that deserved more criticism than this guy. And I'm not just gonna make an excuse and say he's injured. Gaborik shows no heart. Does he need a first line center to give him a heart? What a joke.
No Gaborik, No Richards and we have a lean mean cap friendly machine.
Sure you guys will complain about having no first liners but paying top dollar for a first liner is only wise if its the right first liner. Gaborik is not. Richards is a high likelihood of falling in the same category (price, age, style of play).
Dissapointed in him...Yep!
Angry that he didn't produce...Yep!
Ready to pull the plug on him...Not yet. He has had success here so to me he's proven he can be a factor. Never rebounded from the injury but still bonafide world class athlete that still doesn't play with legit first liners.
Not over yet, but...lets see what transpires today before the lyniching.
again Gabby was an experiment that on balance went wrong, much like Drury and Gomez.
Sather has this uncanny desire to prove everyone wrong.
There was always going to be an issue between the freewheeling Gaborik and the nose to the grindstone attitude that Torts expects.
If you have Torts as your coach do you seriously consider Gaborik would be the right player to fill in the top dog spot......
I am not crazy about Torts, but I certainly don't believe he is to blame if we don't make the playoffs.
He got maximum out of this squad. He has got max out of overachieving donkeys like Prust, Eminger,
Boyle, Fedotenko and Prospal. That is great, but we still lack class.
This team is a Perry, Zetterberg, Datsuyk, Crosby, Malkin, Krejci, Vanek away from being a serious contender. No matter how many shots we block and how much we hustle and how defensively organized we are.
All the top teams have an ace keeper, so that cancels out. But head to head we don't have the
skill team like Tampa or Washington, philly have. I don't even want to talk about Detroit or Vancouver.
Most likely, Sather will listen to offers made. And, if a team is willing to overpay for an oft-injured winger who doesn't always give the best effort on D, coming off a mediocre season, then, yes, Gaborik has played his last game as a Ranger. But, I doubt that Sather is going to just give him away. The price is likely a quality young roster player, a top prospect and a future #1. If Sather gets an offer like that, then I think he deals Gaborik. But, how many teams have both the cap space and the need to make such a deal?
iginla is 34 and Calgary will have to consider his remaining value or the chance of getting some value for him
Personally, I'm pretty indifferent to him being traded. If it happens, I think it'd have to be a pretty sweet deal/ overpayment, which would be good. Otherwise we hold onto him and see what happens next year.
I've said this a million times. Let him play with Richards before demanding a trade. Richards or not though, next season looks to be his judgement season. I like Gaborik but he's not perfect. As long as can even put up close to 09'-10' numbers he's fine. He's clearly injured because talent like that doesn't just vanish at such a young age. Unfortunately injury is just part of Gaborik. The Rangers front office knew what they were getting with him when they signed him.
