Player of the Game & The Good, The Bad, The Redden: Game #82 vs. New Jersey Devils

Player of the Game & The Good, The Bad, The Redden

The RulesWhat is the poll for?

You are voting for the player of the game - the one who put forth the most effort, who put the team on his shoulders, who contributed the most.

Do not vote for the player who had the best statistical game just because he had the best statistical game.

This does not mean you should not vote for the player of who had the best statistical game, but do not vote for him just because of that fact.

Who can I vote for?

You may vote for any player who dressed for the game and played at least one shift. If the player you want to vote for is not included in the poll, select "Other" and indicate in your post who you wish to vote for. In the case that I egregiously miss the player who everyone wants to vote for in the poll, I will count the votes in the thread.

What is this "The Good, The Bad, The Redden" nonsense?

It is my twist on the title of the famous spaghetti western movie, The Good, the Bad and the Ugly.

Since multiple players may have outstanding games and you can only vote for one player in the poll, this affords you the opportunity to recognize multiple players, or a facet of the team, for their commendable play ("The Good"). This also affords you the opportunity to rip players, or a facet of the team, for their particularly substandard play ("The Bad"). Finally, just as "The Player of the Game" affords you the opportunity to recognize the best, this affords you the opportunity to commend the crème de la crème of the worst, who delivered an atrocious performance, or whose singular (or multiple) bad plays directly led to the the detriment of the team ("The Redden").

Alexander Frolov Memorial Trophy

The Alexander Frolov Memorial Trophy is awarded to the player who most exemplifies the qualities that Alex brought to the ice game in and game out. Most notable was his talent for wraparounds. Thusly, this award is given to the player who has the most wraparound attempts throughout the game.

The award tonight goes to Ruslan Fedotenko, Ryan McDonagh, and Vaclav Prospal, each with 1 wraparound attempt against New Jersey.

POTG: Chris Drury
Good: Anisimov, McDonagh, Dubinsky, Prospal, physicality (even Gilroy had a huge hit), 5 goals, Feds
Bad: Nothing, really. Lundqvist on that Kovalchuk goal was meh.
Redden: The powerplay was awful, clearly Torts fault

This team really responded well when the Devils scored.

POTG: McDonagh with a huge goal, 1st goal of career

Good: Drury with a giant goal when things looked bad, W2 with a big goal as well, good efforts from the whole team especially the Boyle line defensively and the Staal-Girardi pair played really well defensively, Girardi with a nice pass to Artie to spring the 2 on 1 where Prospal scored.

Bad: Hank let in that softie (2nd goal) and our team's destiny is up to Tampa

LGL

top corner shot from mcd - "omg snipe what a laser leetch-esque!!!"
top corner shot from kovy - "weak goal, so soft, hank never steps up, trade him blah blah blah"

players make great shots sometimes, i know ranger fans rarely see it, but it happens.

POTG - forecheck pressure
redden - atlanta game

LETS GO RANGERS!!!

Should've heard some boos at the end. Sure they played well today, but last game was a joke. Blueshirts off our backs is nice though.

POTG: Chris Drury

The Good: McDonagh's first NHL goal, the Devils playing a real hockey game

The Bad: Hank on Kovalchuk's second goal

The Redden: That the Rangers could end up with 4 more wins than Carolina and miss the playoffs.

Both shots were stoppable, however Hank was on his knees very deep in the net way before the puck was shot on the Kovy goal. McD's goal was stoppable, but at least it was a true one timer and Marty was also on his knees a bit early and didn't seem to know where the puck was when McD took the shot.

Yeah, let's boo them for the putrid loss against the Isles too. And that Avalanche blowout. And Jokinen's missed SO attempt last year. And 1941-1993.

Great game from everyone. Im genuinely surprised they won.

I am so scared for tonight. It really bothered me that there's a chance that will be the last time I see the Rangers on the ice this season. I wish it was decided during the game.
