The only real hope is that they finally grasp the enormity of their situation and let it get to their heads.
Unfortunately, I see Tampa storm the gates early, and Ward stop about 19 shots in the first period. Then, in the second, Cole will get behind someone who slipped on Carolina's slush, and score one of his patented one-handed plow into the goalie goals. 1-0. Later in the third, Pitkanen takes a shot that bounces off three skates into the net. 2-0. That's how it ends. Oh yeah, Stamkos hits three posts in the third period.
I think the Jussi Jokinen scoring the winning goal in the shootout theory is more plausible.

Ward and the Canes got those kind of lucky strikes against the Red Wings.
Guys and girl (yes i have noticed that one chick that posts on here haha) come on!Atleast pretend to have some ****ing faith here.
Believe in karma, god or what the hell they all call it or not, but atleast for this one, single night believe. I agree, it sounds stupid, but i know one thing; at this point its not going to hurt to us to try to be summon some kind of help!
The bad news is: Malone and Hedman definitely won't play tonight and Boucher is most likely going to cut the ice time of Stamkos, St. Louis, probably Lecavalier, etc.
The good news: Smith will be in net tonight. He's been terrific since he was called up again after Ellis was traded to Anaheim. He shutout a desperate Blackhawks team last Sunday and won against the very Hurricanes exactly two weeks ago (.943 SV%, 33/35 SV/SA) plus it's his contract year and while his future might not be with the Lightning after this season he has to prove that he's still NHL goaltending material.
stamkos is a fa this offseason, and i find it very surprising that he hasn't signed an extension yet. tampa obviously must have been offering him extensions during this time.
so the question is do we have a chance at signing him during the offseason? i think he's an infinitely better fit for this team than richards.

i know it's a pipe dream but one can wish...
He's an RFA- and TB will have a TON of cap space and will match any offer sheet for him.

If you're prepared to give up four 1st round picks, then yes, we could theoretically sign him. Of course he has a major say in this, plus even if he signs Tampa could match it and they probably will unless it's some ridiculous contract...
So in short: no. Richards is the infinitely more realistic target.

Sather should call him and say there is $13 million waiting for him over here and hang-up the phone. Just to throw them a monkey-wrench. That's only if the Lightning blow chunks tonight.
I switched to a picture of a Levacalier with no shirt on LOL. If the Canes win, i'll keep this avatar for the whole offseason, sooooo pleaseeee lose canes
Tampa has a lot of cap space and he will only eat up an addition 3 million next season at most. Tampa could easily sign Richards and a goaltender and have space to spare. But if I were them I would see what I can do defensively in UFA (Clark was a great signing).
Anyway to whoever said the TB season ticket deal is a good one is right. I pay like $800 bucks for season tickets, locked in for playoff ticket prices and I get that new jersey with the chip in it for 35% or 40% (whatever it is) off merchandise and food.
Only way I see this happening is if Smith stands on his head.
Let's put Carolina in Rangers jerseys so that he thinks he's playing us and he can come out of nowhere and dominate like every backup goalie does against us.
