Playoff black aces

I wouldn't be surprised to see essentially the entire AHL squad head to SJ for a week (as a kinda thank you).

But who will be sticking around as playoff black aces. (Won't be any AHL-contracted player. Nor any of the CHL-eligible kids.)

Goalie: Sateri was around last season in SJ as the 3rd goalie. Heemskerk, Hutton (and/or Sexsmith) are other possibilities. If Stockton needs a goalie (and wants to get rid of their 3rd guy), the Sharks could assign another guy. Greiss too.

Defense: Acolatse, Doherty, Irwin, Loprieno, Moore, Petrecki, Schaus, Sullivan

Forward: Davis, Ferriero, Henderson, Lucia, MacIntyre, Marcou, McCarthy, McGinn, McLaren, Swift, Trevelyan, Viedensky, Wingels

Sateri, Ferriero, McGinn, McCarthy.
Maybe Moore, Doherty, Petrecki, and Wingels.

They'd follow the team on the road as well right? I don't see the organization paying for the food and hotel fees for 7+ people just to get them accustomed to the playoff atmosphere.

It's often goalie, two (extra) D, three (or more) F.

And the black aces would be traveling with the team.

(There's also the possibility that others can be called up. May be put "on call" in certain situations.)

I thought it was Karlsson that was around as the third goalie last year.

A "thank you" for what? Sucking all season?

would there need to be emergency circumstances to put them on the actual roster?

can one of them take mashinter's spot?

Yes, if they want to put somebody on the active roster today it would need to be under 'emergency' recall. I don't really see them doing that though, they said Setoguchi may play and if he can't (along w/ no Clowe or Mash) it's good to get Braun some ice time.

After Sunday, there are no more roster limit or salary cap restrictions.

There haven't been roster # restrictions since the trade deadline.

Ya - was referring to the recalls, I should have been more specific.

Dont think Moore will be one, he just had tendon repair to a nasty cut, black aces have to work out every day, and I hear during games they ride the bike like they would be skating to stay in shape. They dont get paid. But it is important to have players that could step in and play. My guess is Irwin, or Schaus ,Sullivan. Petrecki did have a better year, but his -15 bothers me. Doherty is a real reach, being 20, with two ahl games, (he looked ok, but not NHL ok) Wingles, McCarthy, Ferrerio, or McGinn, (these are different style players that would be able to play different roles I have to guess Hutton bases on being up already this year

Yeah pretty sure it was Karlsson not Sateri.
