Choose your words a little more carefully. This Boston team seems a little different than years past. Im going to be cautiously optimistic here. Hoping for an exciting series and a Habs win of course.

At least that is where it comes in handy having 8 capable defenceman and 13 capable forwards.

In light of the rivalry and the spirit of the playoffs, I'm bringing the same attitude as the Habs should bring. If our players were also cautiously optimistic, we're out in 3.

I don't think it's so bad. It's (obviously) the same for both teams and I think we'll have the advantage since it's on our ice.

Our ice advantage will vary a lot depending on our performance in Boston.

Again, here are the 3 scenarios:

we win the first 2: Boston collapse
we tie the first 2: we have the early advantage.
We lose the first two reasonably: our fanbase will do it's very best to pull the home advantage
we lose the first two in a humiliating way: uhhh...

I think we will be okay. The injuries will have four days to heal before teh start of the first round. As always, come home with a split!

BTW, it is the start of the playoffs but it does not feel like spring in Vancouver. It is like 2 degrees at the moment and is terribly gloomy outside my window.

THAT'S why I didn't give the result of game 7. I figured my wife would be driving me to the ER after the second overtime.

Honestly, not just tonight. It's just that tonight he got 2 assists (and could have had 3 or 4 actually) so the guys who only think "scoring" noticed him. Not you Natey!

The truth is that since Pyatt got back into the lineup regularly lately, he has showed us all WHY he was a playoff stalwart last year. He is solid defensively, good positional sense, kills penalties and rarely makes a mistake. He is one of the best on the team at getting the puck out of our zone. And his passing is under-rated.

Final stats for the year are the following:

Record with Pyatt sitting out: 8-12-1
Record with Pyatt in lineup: 36-18-7

I think the kid has made a very strong case for being one of the bottom-6 forwards every night.

Jacques Martin should try to replicate last year's success, with two scoring lines, Gionta on one and Cammalleri on the other, a third line that contains a speedy center like Eller, Pyatt on LW and a solid RW like Moen which can play 13-14 minutes shutting down the opponents 1st or 2nd line. If the defensive line succeeds in shutting down a Top-2 line on the other team, then either the Gomez or the Plekanec line will be facing a bottom-6 line, which was a great advantage for us last year, and could be again!

We then add some 4th line specialists like DD for the PP, Ryan White for toughness when necessary, and Jeff Halpern for faceoffs.

I think this leaves Benoit Pouliot on the outside looking in, and frankly he has stunk the joint out for 6 weeks. I guess he could get a chance if there is an injury, or DD can't fight his way through playoff traffic to get a point here and there. But Benny with his penchant for turnovers and sloppy penalties is a real risk out there every night.

All in all, we are a stronger playoff team with Tom Pyatt in the lineup. We almost never have to worry when he is on the ice, and that is valuable indeed.

I can't wait to see the reception Chara gets in Montreal. Imagine the boos when he touches the puck.

That is not what I was saying. I was more referring to your Choke graphic. If our players were to go around saying Bruins choke then they are out in two.

haha i was like wtf? i was so sure i had heard wrong. i went and posted in the leafs GDT to get confirmation on that.

how on earth he knew that, makes me curious. is this 50-something year old white man secretly a hip-hop head?

do you think he was quoting the line from 'it ain't hard to tell' or from 'nas is like' in which premier cuts a sample from ain't hard to tell on the beat?

The Habs need a split in the first two away games to have a reaasonable chance of winning the series. I don't know how they can do it, judging from the recent games. The key player they're missing isn't Markov, it's Pacioretty.

Brian Gionta finishes with exactly the same point total as last year scoring one more goal than last season. 29 goals and 46 pts. Last year 28 goals and 46 pts.

Cammalleri was down in goals, but was also close to overall point production as last year. He finishes with 19 goals and 47 pts. Last season, 26 goals and 50 pts.

Good game by the Habs. Wasn't really expecting much from either teams tonight. Price was very solid, even though I think the disallowed goal should have counted and the goal that did count was sort of bad luck.

Now the boys have a little time off before game 1.

We need to get to thomas early and often. Destroy him and they will race to get rask in there and lose all confidence.

Price officialy ends the year Tied for First in Wins with Luongo at 38

Luongo is on the president trophy winning team who finished first in the NHL with over 50 wins, and the habs are 6th in the east.

feels good man.

Price also had 12-more decisions than Luongo. Just saying. Absolutely phenomenal year by Price but that'd be like saying Pavelski was as good as Crosby this year because they both had 66-points.
