I wasn't sure who that was until I looked him up. Then I did. I'm still not sure who he is.
Topic thought: I think this series is going to depend on whether or not the Rangers can shut down the Washington PP. I know, I know. I always roll my eyes when commentators say "special teams will determine the outcome" because it's cheap. It might actually be the case this time though.

Well we can't expect to be successful if we suck on the pp.
Special teams really are the difference in a lot of games especially in the playoffs when teams tighten up defensively. The Rangers MUST get the PP going.
At least Drury is back his style defensively is very similar to Callahan's so it can make up a little bit of the loss there. Offensively people need to pick it up. Gaborik most of all.

i dont know if getting the PP going is a MUST...if they shut down the Caps PP, then its just a bonus.
Congratulations, guys! Vaclav Prospal is my all-time favorite player, so I've been pulling for you to make the playoffs - glad we could be of assistance in making that happen! You'll be my #2 team to cheer for, so beat the Caps!!

It's a must. Even strength scoring drops substantially in the Playoffs. You might be right in regard to this series because the Caps defense and goaltending isn't fantastic.
I think of all teams that made the playoffs in the East, Washington is the best matchup for us. They aren't overly fast, not overly deep, don't have great defense or goaltending.
I think we should be able to beat them rather easily, the x-factor would be our inferior coach with his line jugglings, benchings, etc.

the rangers style though, by the way it is, keeps games close, so as long as they arent giving up a ton of goals, im not sure if the PP will "break" the team, granted it coudl very easily "make" the team.

Their defense is actually pretty darn good. Their offense is the part of their game that has been struggling this year - we scored more goals overall than the Caps.
I don't expect to win, but i'm so god damned happy we made the ****ing playoffs you don't even know. A lot of people at first hailed us as a 8th or lower seed and wouldn't have been surprised if we missed. But to see such strong play from guys like Stepan and Sauer and McDonagh, and also the step in development of Dubi and Arty and especially Callahan, it would've been more than disappointment to miss.
I consider this season a success even if we get swept. Sign Richards this off-season and let's go to work.
(I think we do have a chance to win though. Hank is going to be a MONSTER.)
My Washington source (his partner is a minority owner of the Caps) told me Wed and Fri in DC were comfirmed and Sunday at The Garden. I asked him how sure he was and he told me to make my reservations now.
I remember in the series against Pitt, special teams killed us. ****ing Hollweg in Game 3, Pens scored on the PP after his boarding penalty. Whenever we had a PP, which was a rare occasion with that officiating (Drury gushing blood from a high stick - no call), we couldn't convert.
Against Washington the following year, we were very undisciplined towards the end of the series and it hurt us. This series could very well become a special teams battle. The PK has to be sharp. My expectations for the PP? Well, just make sure the puck is in their end more than ours...

Are you serious???? Are you ****ing serious!!?!?!?!?! That's the best news I've heard since the Canes lost.
I'm still speechless. I was so upset after Thursday, still upset leading up to the Bolts' game tonight. Man, I'm on a high right now. Gotta give credit where credit is due, and for once the Rangers caught a break and are in. Now let's see what happens. Let's go Rangers!
Best part about this is I can see a playoff game this this Thursday or Friday (game 2) 25 minutes from my house. Almost 2 years without a Rangers playoff game is too long.
edit: in fact the last one was game 7 in DC, I remember being so souped up most of the game until Federov of all people took a **** on us
