no, it won't. they have come out hard in game 1's previous. if they have a good game 1, then the next worry will be what happens after they've won 3 games and are prepared to choke their life away. game 1 is at best just one of four games that require the same. more goals than the other team.

well they usually come out flat in game ones

time to fix that awful 7-9 record at home in the playoffs

If the CAPS have not learned the concept of "No mercy" then ugh.

There are no bad teams in the playoffs since the league gradually expanded from 21 to 30 and retained the same number of qualifying playoff teams, but I do think that this year there is a benefit to capturing the top seed. Every playoff team is capable of winning a series, and even a Cup with the right bounces, but of the eight teams in the East, I would rather play the NYR before any of the others. They are a good team, but there are degrees and the others are either more stacked from top to bottom or hotter than NYR, which is not especially strong in either respect.

they are a good team that has to play their "A" game which is very hard on them in order to compete. they totally choked a life or death game away to atlanta. i dont see them as personification of doom.

Green

Is Green expected to play in Game 1?

If not, who takes his spot? Would it be Collins?

Thanks

nobody seems to know. The only D we know are out without question is Wideman. Nobody seems to have a definitive answer on Green or Poti.

So basically yes, collins. anybody but TFS.

Honestly I like the match up with the NYR. Not because I feel there is some inherent advantage in playing NYR but simply their style they play...if we happen to win the series I have no doubt NYR will bring it all. Will be a good series. Subtext with the series a couple of years ago will obviously be a media theme, heh.

My only complaint about a NYR series is personally a personal one. The HD visitor PQ is the absolute worst in the entire NHL. Brightness and ultimately the static camera positions are bad.

All that being said. MSG is old in historic so will give it a break on all the history that passed and look forward to, after the upgrades in the past year and future couple of years, seeing it modernized. (though that walkway over the arena seems like a potential disaster unless it has some kind of netting).

Like QuadrupleDeke, I read this as the only team the Caps know they can beat is themselves, which is pretty fitting considering recent history.

I honestly don't see the Rangers posing any threat at all. Caps in 4, if the Rags are lucky. Book it, Lundqvist will falter.

Good luck!

He will play. Salary cap reason why he didn't dress. Ask the bot for reason why.

apparently the rangers fans dont think we have a defense and/or goaltending.

interesting

says something about how once perceptions are made they are difficult to change

Living on LI (next the coliseum, surrounded by no islanders fans but plenty of blue blooded new yorkers) is what got me into hockey and the caps in the first place. I'd like to see a 5 game series, and I doubt there'll be blowouts, but I could see the rags spinning us out of control.

Yeah, I definitely don't understand Ranger fans calling the Washington defense weak, when it's actually, from my viewings, the strongest part of their game.

Good luck in this, should be a banging series. Desperately wanted an '09 matchup, and got it. Just hope the games are closer this time.

Its hard to tell whats the best asset of the caps, the talent heavily favors the offense. Its definitely improved from the trade deadline. But the defense has been more consistent

Id rather not have these games close. This team apparently only does 7 game series and usually loses. Its time they acted liked a first seed. Caps need to start dominating.

I'm not sure there is one actual fact in the Rangers thread. Ovechkin is a choker, as well (understandable with all their playoff success). We seem to have more respect for them as an 8 seed than they do for the Caps as a 1.

Delusions of Grandeur, IMO, but it'll be up to the Caps to put up.

When's everyone's guess on game 1, Wed? I hope Wed.

Oh and Lundqvist's playoff numbers are... save % .907, GAA 2.66. He stole some games, but he also sucked some games. We play like we did against the Habs, I don't see Lundy doing a Halak impression.

nah. they basically have confidence in their team and many caps fans here dont. thats the bottom line. our guys/girls here basically think the caps will need to do things they havent done in the past to beat any nhl playoff team. they think the coach is a loser and that the best players are losers.

so, yea. rangers fans are all about building up reasons why their 8th seeded team has the actual advantage and caps fans are looking for the doom.

me? just watch the games.
