I assume that's the plan unless ML's back explodes. $2.5M wrapped up in backup goaltenders is pretty crappy allocation of cap space.

Richards lost the Cup for the Flyers.

Thank you for opening my eyes. I've been so misguided.
Agreed.

They should take away the C from Richards.

From now on...he shall be known to me as Ri hards

Interesting read

Byfuglien didn't breakout until Q reworked lines. That was the big thing. It forced the Flyers D which was only 4 deep to have to contend with 3 balanced attacking lines + our 4th which was probably the best 4th line in league by end of season having Eager-Madden-Brouwer

Byfuglien dominated Canucks/Sharks because there was no one that could physically stand up to him. Until game 5 Buff was frustarted. In that game though he did dominate Pronger. Over the length of series Pronger held him in check pretty well

As for Leighton. The guy was brutal for Flyers and honestly I was suprised that Boucher didn't get the nod for game 6. Infact most of Chicago was suprised as we thought that 1st period would be the end for Leighton

As for who Hawk fans would be pissed at if we would have lost. It wouldn't have been a player it would have been Dale Tallon. That was our one chance with that group of players because of his horrible cap management. If we dont win cup Tallon would have gotten the most heat and flak (As he should)

No, what I am saying is that the balance of that series shifted with Leighton's performance. You want to swap out Richards? Fine, do it... don't think that's going to change the result given the turd that Leighton was laying between the pipes. Other players were certainly doing things both positive and negative... and, frankly, we didn't NEED Richards' line to be all that great offensively, we weren't having any problem getting goals.

What we NEEDED was our goalie not to completely **** the bed. He did. THAT is why we lost.

Absolutely correct. Leighton was pulled TWICE in that series. Jester is absolutely right in saying the balance of power shifted with Leighton's performance and anyone who thinks the offense was the problem is being delusional. Take a look at the goals the Flyers scored in the series: 5, 1, 4, 5, 4, 3.

Here is a quote from Stefan Legein:
Question: Where does Micheal Leighton rank with all goalies you have played with?
Answer: I have played with great goalies mason, bernier, but leights willingness to complete and dedicate his life to getting better is like something I have never seen before, he shows up everyday and makes sure he got better, its a pleasure to watch"

For me, I love a guy like Leighton. He is ********** Rocky.

No doubt about it. Pronger owned it. I think he ran out of steam around game 5 due to having to play so much with no 5-6 pairing. But, he was Pronger, AWESOME.

Yep. Pronger was so awesome in the playoffs, as a matter of fact, that an argument can made that the Flyers wouldn't have sniffed the SCF without him.

Why bother to respond if this is all you have to say? Leighton is not a top 10 goalie in the NHL, nobody is saying he is. He is however a battler, a guy who has paid his dues and a guy the rest of the world says can't do it, isn't good enough, not fast enough.....he's a bum. Well I say, "Get up ya son of a ***** cause Micky Loves ya".

I say if we have a 4-1 lead in the 3rd we put him just to see how he looks

I agree with phillyfanatic ML is our own Rocky (underdog) story, what he did last year should be appreciated, some fans are just not appreciative.
He should have played this last game, the coach is wearing Bob out again and if we blow this game it will be the goalie decisions of coach and or management that messed up by not making the choice and giving ML a chance to get his FAIR time in before playoffs.

I'd rather trade Leighton and re sign Boosh for a year.

That back is troubling at best.

Agreed. Leighton caught lighting in a bottle and while he played well last year it was mainly the D keeping shots from the outside and cleaning up the rebounds. My problem is, bob gives up softies just as often and teams have clearly figured out that you just need to get screens or shoot high to beat him. He's impressive side to side and makes flashy saves but his reactions on a shot from the point and vision are brutal at times.

Problem is, that isn't exactly possible....if nobody wanted him for half price on re-entry, who the hell will trade for him at full price?

Well said. There's always room in the press box for a good battler.

what do you expect Legein to say? If anyone here or anyone else would want Leighton over Jonathan Bernier I want what they are smoking.
