Big win...nice to see drury come up with a big goal...maybe, just maybe tampa bay wins tonight and drury carries that goal into the playoffs. That goal he scored looked like one the drury of old would've scored. Just a scrappy, drive to the net type of goal.

Eh, the points system is what it is. Everyone plays within the system. It may be stupid, but we can't blame anyone but ourselves.

Great game. I had to work all day and it was really difficult to not check the score on my phone but I'm so glad that I didn't.

I'll take mashed potatoes and gravy with my crow. It's a dish I'll gladly consume today. This situation seldom, so very seldom, seems to end in the Rangers favor. It had punchline written all over it. Two despicable games put them in a situation they didn't need to be in, but they brought their lunch pails today and went to work. couldn't be prouder. Fortunately lady luck was on our side making for a truly magnificent days. Bravo for a job well and truly done, boys.

first of yeah

rangers are in

todays game everyone played hard I thought fetedtenko had a great game was probably the best ranger dubinski played well as did drury good for him. gaborik played hard too. and whether you like him or not wolski has had another good game and has been playing a lot better especially in key situations. He is a top six or top line forward and does have top line talent its just effert with him and he is bringing it hard so this could be huge

go rangers

Chris Drury's 7 million dollar goal propelled the team to a great win and an eventual playoff spot.

If you told me that Thursday night at about 10 P.M. I would have laughed in your face.

Inside Hockey had team coverage at Madison Square Garden today.

Here's Diana Driscoll's game story on today's big win: http://insidehockey.com/?p=23646

Quote:
The Rangers were able to keep their playoff hopes alive after they beat the New Jersey Devils 5-2 Saturday afternoon at the Garden. But the win still came with anxiety as the Blueshirts’ playoff fate was put in the hands of the Carolina Hurricanes.

All the Rangers could do after they defeated the Devils was wait for Saturday night’s matchup between the Canes and the Tampa Bay Lightning to take place. A Carolina victory would have tied the Rangers with 93 points, yet the Hurricanes would be awarded the tiebreaker because they have more regulation victories than the Rangers.

Luckily for the Rangers, the wait and their hard-fought victory over the Devils were all worth it as the Canes fell to the Lightning securing the Rangers’ playoff berth.
And here's my contribution, touching on Chris Drury, Ryan McDonagh, and Tortorella's annoyance with NHL tiebreaker system. It also includes all the post-game audio clips featured on the top post of this thread:

http://insidehockey.com/?p=23654

Quote:
NEW YORK – With the Rangers down to their final breath, their captain returned into the lineup with a flourish. The kind of flourish not seen for 365 days.

Chris Drury, out 27 games with left knee surgery and playing in only his 24th game of an injury-marred season, scored for the first time since April 9, 2010, and captained the Rangers to a 5-2 win over the Devils (37-39-5).
Quote:
“It’s too bad because if you look at our record with 44 wins, you would think that has to put you in the playoffs,” said an agitated Vinny Prospal after the Rangers finished their final game. “I don’t get this. The other team cannot have more points than us. So, what the f— is the shootout for, then?”

I can't believe it but I voted drury for Potg....that goal was huge....it didn't matter how little he played after it, that win doesn't happen without that goal

It was, dare I say, clutch?

Good win all around, feds played great, EC and WW showed up, mcd played well

and Marty looked terrible imo

Hell yeah, and bring it on Washington!

gave it to Drury..that first goal was HUGE....i mean MEGA GIGANTIC. if he doesnt score that goal right away, im not sure if we come back and win this one. i know the Devils took a 2-1 lead and all, but the Rangers had every reason to get down on themselves giving up an early goal, to get it right back made them believe in themselves, so coming back a 2nd time wasnt a problem.

one could ask the question "where was yesterdays effort today" to the Carolina Hurricanes.

Hockey is a funny sport. Some days/nights you just dont have it. I can count the number of times the Rangers havent had it on one hand...in fact i could probably count it on 3 fingers, it just so happened 2 of them were at the end of the season with so much on the line.

Ho-ly crap. Massive update to the front page. I would say the Rangers media and blogosphere is, er, a little excited.

wow I forgot about this game after watching the CAR/TBL game and going crazy.
POTG is Drury, comes back, and scores an important goal.

Does anyone have the video of when Joe Micheletti pretty much asked out Sam Rosen during the game? He asked him what he was doing after the game and Rosen said he will be watching the Tampa game at home. It's was pretty funny/awkward.

Due to superstition, I purposely missed this game (except when I flipped the channel twice and both times Kovalchuk scored...), but I did watch the highlights after. I picked Drury because his goal was clutch and he had just come back from an injury. Guess he lives up to his "Captain Clutch" nickname.
I'm just glad today worked out the way we wanted it to

Normally you could vote 3 PotG:

PotG: Chris Drury, Ryan McDonagh, TB Lightning
The Good: Great Teameffort over 60 minutes
The Bad: Henrik @ Goal 2, he should have that one, but anyway we won
The Redden: Don´t know tbh --> edit: punched my DVD-Player of the TV in the bedroom which is next to my laptop as we made it 2-3 Hope he still works

POTG - Dru

The Good - Showing some urgency and winning that game, playoffs baby, playoffs

The Bad - Missing Cally

The Redden - Going on vacation on Wednesday, gonna be harder to follow the playoffs, won't see any games, but will be scoreboard watching. Hoping they can get by Washington so I can see some games.

zuccs only got a little over 3 minutes of ice time and in his first shift he was the one that was in the zone first for the puck and was a big part of that tying goal by drury...I was surprised zuccs did not get a few more shifts with drury during the game, but I liked the way they looked and i think in the playoffs those two could be HUGE together, the way zucc passes and how drury seems more relaxed than ever since being in new york, i think a lot of pressure has been taken off of him because of how the team has succeeded all season really without him and with cally stepping up in the leadership department. I really think those two will be one heck of a duo in these playoffs
