I am with you on Buffalo winning but i personally think Montreal will come through their series.

I think

Rangers-Washington – Rangers in 7
Buffalo-Philadelphia – Sabres in 6
Montreal-Boston – Habs in 6
Tampa Bay-Pittsburgh – Pittsburgh in 6

Chicago-Vancouver – Hawks in 7
Los Angeles-San Jose – Kings in 5
Phoenix-Detroit – Wings in 6
Nashville-Anaheim –Ducks in 7

So 5/8 first round series will end with upsets? And only one top 3 seed in either conference will make it out of the first round?

Just how i see it mate

Probably lucky i don't bet much now but if i was to pick one upset it would be the Sabres taking down the Flyers.

I just feel now more than ever you will see more "upsets", The parity in the NHL doesn't make it seem as far fetched.

Yeah, I mean none of the individual picks are all that crazy, but it just seems unlikely that virtually ALL of the top seeds will go down.

Obviously it's more likely that those upsets will take place in the East. And now that I look back, that's exactly how it went last year (only the 4 seed won their first round).

I think the West will go largely by seeding in the first round, though.

Who cares about the rest

Media going with pretty much every top seed again, despite several years in a row of multiple upsets.

I'm just shocked that the Rangers were the only team to pull out a must-win in game 82. Blackhawks got lucky.

Besides the habs disagreement, I also cannot see L.A taking that series in any way. They are missing Kopitar and just aren't strong enough up front without him. San Jose, although known for choking will take that series and I believe, fairly easily. I also think Vancouver will win their series, although I am rooting against them.

I'm just going to do first round predictions only:

Rangers in 6
Sabres in 6
Habs in 7
Bolts in 5

Nucks in 6
Sharks in 5
Phoenix in 7 (I'm choosing this as my upset, but I wish both teams could make it )
Ducks in 5

When was the last time all 4 bottom seeds in a conference pulled off upsets?

Came close last year, as well. All the division leaders got knocked out in the East in the 1st round.

Both Dallas and Chicago couldn't get it done on the last day.

Well I guess the upside of Dallas not being in is that Richards can start finding a house in New York, lol.

I think Chicago's going to give the Canucks a serious run for their money. VAN in 7.

No Kopitar for LA so I can't pick them. Sharks in 6. Red Wings are too strong and the Coyotes don't have enough scoring depth, though losing Zetterberg hurts DET. DET in 6.

Ducks take Nashville in 5.

Philly is too strong to lose in the first round even if they are the popular pick to go down. Flyers in 7.

If Crosby isn't back, Lightning in 6. Bruins/Habs is going to be a total war, but the Bruins are too physical and will be able to slow the Canadiens down. Bruins in 6.

more like how I'd like to see it play out. Unless our D and Henke are able to hit some sort of magical stride, the Bolts offense would probably take us out. We'd also probably come out of the Boston series all banged up. Vancouver would probably take San Jose down but they each have their cast of super stars. Whoever wins the Joe Pavelski vs. Kesler battle will probably tip that series in one team's favor.

Rangers in 7 ---- Rangers in 6 ----- Rangers in 7
Bruins in 7
Sabres in 7 ---- Tampa in 6
Tampa in 6
------------------------------------------------------------------ Rangers in 6
Vancouver in 6 ---- Vancouver in 5 ---- San Jose in 7
Phoenix in 7
San Jose in 5 ---- San Jose in 7
Anaheim in 6

That's because they are worthless analysts. They don't analyze matchups with players, systems, lines. How teams matchup against each other makes all the difference in the world. These guys get payed big dollars to pick the teams with the better records, yay.
