I find this hilarious. Capable of being starters doesn't necessarily mean they're going to be good.

I do not fear the Capitals. In fact this is the match up I was looking forward to most.

The Rangers excel at playing down low hockey, the Capitals, they are not a good down low defending team.

Can they be a dominating team? Sometimes, but they are and have been a very VERY beatable group this season.

and I think that the Rangers prove that to be true this year

I think you should start fearing a team that has been first in the conference twice in a row, in 2nd place (3 years back), and 3rd place (4 years back). There's no hidden surprises there. They have dynamo offensive power. Sure, we could have beat them two years ago and blew it. I don't think they're unbeatable by any means. But I think you're not giving them the respect they deserve. IF the Rangers somehow find a way to win (without Callahan), it will be in 6 or 7 games and really hard-fought. More likely, Washington in 5 or 6.

Well I guess the benefit is that if one goalie ***** the bed then you have two other goalies you can try, but I don't think that trumps having a goalie you can rely on

Without Cally I think we have a hole bunch of questionmarks, I definitely think Torts deserves some praise if he can put together a Callahan-less team that can send Washington golfing.

Exactly. Henrik may **** the bed once in a while, but so does every goalie, and you have no way of knowing which of your 3 is going to suck on any given night.

I'd rather have one guy who is gonna be awesome 8-9 times out of 10 than try to play Russian roulette with 3 young, inexperienced, and relatively playoff-untested goalies.

The only benefit it gives is the fanbase having something to blame after a loss.

See; Brodeur-Luongo for team Canada or

Roy-Visentin for WJC team Canada.

And that New York Rangers team you guys happen to be playing against in the first round, are fifth in goals against. Good luck to you too.

Which players do you think Torts going to give a chance in the first game, and how will the lines look like?

If I had to guess, we will roll 3 lines almost exclusively.

Gaborik
Prospal
Stepan
Dubinsky
Anisimov
Wolski
Fedotenko
Boyle
Prust

But the fact that Zuccarello has not been sent back down suggests to me there might be a use for him at some point. I think we should use Avery a bit as well, as long as he doesn't take dumb penalties.

This is going to be a phenomenal series. I see the Caps pulling it out in 6 or 7, but it will be a very tight series. If you break these two teams down statistically over the season they match up VERY well.

GPG :
Caps 2.67 Rangers 2.73

GAG:
Caps 2.33 Rangers 2.38

PP:
Caps 17.5 Rangers 16.9

PK:
Caps 85.6 Rangers 83.7

This is going to be a great series. Should be very closely played series.

***Fixed, wasn't trying to talk trash, just the abbreviated name I've always used.

They confirmed today that Zuccarello remains with the team.

We will either win or lose. The series will be between 4 to 7 games. That's my prediction.

Ya know, I started to read your post and though, well here is a level headed caps fan, then I saw the first line of the stats and realized you are just like the rest. Seriously, if you are going to come in here and try to talk hockey at least have a little respect.

pathetic.

I fixed the post, like I said just the short name I've always used. I really don't think of it any differently then the Pens, Isles, Habs ect. But I get your point. Again, my apologies.
