Clearly McGinn wasn't recalled earlier to keep him from having to clear waivers next year.

He's got two games before he'd be subject to waivers.

I do believe that's the case.

Also, I see McCarthy on the roster. Did he come up with Ferriero or was this today, too?

Does anyone think Greiss will dress as backup instead of Nitty?

I mean overall. Is he pissed at the org like we suspect. Is he happy to be back and there is a shot of him re-signing. Hell would the org even offer to re-sign him?

What if they trade Nitty in the off season. That may open up a spot.

I'm pretty sure they include playoff games as well. The limit is 160 correct? He has 143 regular season games and 15 playoff games.

Think he's referring to the current post-season.

I bet he's a professional and realizes there wasn't much of a goalie market last year and the Sharks had to make a business decision.

Aren't you the one who argues the Isle should let Nabby walk because you don't want a disgruntled Nabby on your team? Don't you have to make the same assumption for Greiss and the Sharks. Would the Sharks bring him back for the PO's just to have a mope hanging around?

It still makes since. If they had brought him up and had to send him down for some reason, he would have had to clear waivers. This allowed us to bring him up without danger.

Well, even if they called him up earlier, he wouldn't have to go through waivers unless he actually played 2 games correct?
Don't really think this recall has anything to do with waivers, just salary. If they had the room during the regular season, they could have brought him up and let him just watch from the press-box (like he's probably going to do now).

I think he is probably thrilled to have Europe behind him given his rough year. At the same time the fact that he wasn't picked up on waivers likely means A) no one saw him as reason enough to annoy the Sharks B) No one wants him C) Those who want him, are certain he'll hit free agency.

Goalie table:If a player is not a virtual lock for a position (Crawford/Mason at starter) he is automatically moved down one spot. I do not expect Columbus to upgrade on Mason, but there have been rumors of hoping to to do so. Chicago and Philly are good with Bob and Crawford, but could use their clout to pursue Vokoun/Bryz/Nabby. Also, unless a prospect is extremely likely to break in, I am not listing them. I assume RFAs will re-sign. In many cases (i.e. Holtby, teams have a good prospect goalie, but likely no NHL spot for him- these players are being excluded).

The four red teams (Phoenix, Florida, Tampa, and Colorado) will almost certainly sign one of the top 7 goalies listed below, or try to acquire Schneider, Niittymaki, or one of the Caps goalies. I would expect Chicago, Philly, Columbus, and Detroit will also be interested.

UFA Starters: Vokoun, Bryzgalov, Nabokov, Roloson
UFA Tandems starters: Giguere, Harding, Emery
UFA back-ups: Garon, Boucher, Smith, Theodore, Turco, Budaj, Osgood, McDonald, Leclaire, Brodeur, Raycroft, Conklin, Hedberg Labarbara, JDD, Greiss,

After the top 7 goalies, I'd say there might be 5-10 back-up spots that will be available, and you'll note there are at least 15-20 goalies looking to take those spots. If Niittymaki were moved, and I were Greiss, I'd take just about any one-way contract with San Jose.

You missed Auld (Mont) and Nashville has Dekanich as NHL ready (like the Caps situation). IMO, Enroth moves to the NHL backup slot. McCollum for Detroit (don't know his status)? IMO, Turco and Lalime will certainly be passed by the market and it is likely the same for Osgood.

Edit: Peters has been just plain bad for the Canes.

Double edit: Goalies get paid in Europe, more than what a two-way NHL would give. If it isn't a one-way, I expect Greiss to go to Europe.

Is it strange that they haven't called up any extra d-men, Braun is the only healthy "extra"? They usually carry 8, sometimes 9 for the playoffs...or does this mean that maybe Huskins is ready if they need him?

Other than Moore who is hurt, they dont have any defenseman that have any NHL exp. cant see putting a player in expecially at d that doesnt have any NHL games, maybe they bring Petercki up because hes a first round pick..
