If the Flyers lose early, there needs to be some strong consideration for firing him. The way the Flyers ended the season this year, added up with an early exit, gives them grounds for canning him. This ream should have easily finished first, but it seems players stopped caring. Its the coaches job to make sure the players stay motivated, and I think he has failed in this area

What about Berube and Mullen...short leash or choker collar??

What players are dog owners on the flyers? Do they use short leashes and curb their dogs? Maybe they do the ole Mike Vick???

Do you know what, I changed my mind. As a matter of fact, fire Holmgren and Laviolette, make Richards coach/GM and give all of the Old City Party Crew bonuses.

Not at all.

Lavi coached the Islanders for 2 seasons, both years he took the team to the playoffs and the. He was fired. They hadn't made the playoffs for 6-7 years before he got there and they still fired him.

He then took over the Canes when hey sucked and won the cup in his first full season. Then they slid back the next 2 seasons and he was fired.

Lavi is in his 2nd season here with huge expectations. If he doesn't meet them this year he will likely have a short leash next season.

Nothing like news from three years ago to use as the pillars of a statement.

I don't think they can renegotiate contacts but maybe someone with a little more CBA knowledge can help out.

Are you by any chance a little slow?

Lavy doesn't have a short leash, If Stevens got 2 full years, I fully expect Lavy to.

I think its very clear that these players don't care for Lavy anymore and that they stopped responding to him. Early exit and I say bye bye Lavy

Ehhhh, if any coach isn't affable enough, or constantly needs to keep pushing buttons to get a team to respond, then there's a good chance that the team they're coaching isn't good enough.

Personally, I felt the team would fall flat on their face this season because of how rare it is for a team that makes it to the finals, to then make the playoffs the following season. Lavy deserves a lot of credit in that department. Maybe they ran out of gas in the latter half, but they've played more hockey than any team in the NHL in the past year, something like 200 games (including the pre-season).

Technically, Berube is next in line, if it's not him then who do people think could do a better job than Lavy has?

I'd give Adam Oates a job. Ulf Samuelsson too.

Well, I might be the biggest Adam Oates fan on this board (or any other for that matter), but he hasn't coached a team to a Stanley Cup.

I'm not placing blame on Oates, but the last two teams he's been an assistant coach for haven't exactly faired well.

There's been a lot of threads, posts and username changes that are becoming hard to gauge what's serious and what's sarcasm lol.

He did not.

They finished the regular season horribly.

If this combination of players cannot play for Stevens and cannot play for Laviolette, then they need to be disbanded.

Of course, a peek at Holmgren is warranted - mediocre goalkeeping is quite capable of destroying a team and mediocre is what he outfitted them with.

Agreed. If you can't play for Stevens - the Ultimate players coach, then there is no helping you.

Who are the constants from the Stevens era core to today?
Richards
Carter
Hartnell
Timonen

Richards is a MINUS 5 over his past 7 games. NOT good enough for your captain over the stretch run when its most important.

Carter has ONE goal in his last 5 games. Again, for a SUPPOSED 40 goal top 7 center in the league that's not going to cut it

Hartnell has Five

5 !

goals in his last twenty games.

Timonen has ONE goal in his last FIFTEEN (15) games! Elite defenders don't fall apart when the going gets tough.

It's time for a revolution. These guys are not champions

You and I have certainy begged to differ over the years.

It seems to me though that we are close to agreement that this is it for this core. It's a shame - there is such promise there. They just seem so lifelless.
