2011 End of the Season awards - VOTE NOW!

With the end of the season rapidly approaching and a good discussion going on this year's Wild MVP, I thought it might be fun to do some more awards. As the season comes to its close, I'll put up a survey for everyone to fill out, and then on/around closing night, I'll post a little write-up on FRB giving out our (first annual?) awards.

EDIT: Voting is up, everyone! Cast your ballots this week, and I'll announce the winners on closing night.

Here are my votes

MVP (sorry I don't get your Stephen Colbert comment)

Mikko Koivu - With him out of the line up, it was obvious how handicapped the team was.

The James Sheppard Memorial Award for Overcoming Adversity
Pierre-Marc Bouchard

The Jim Thome Award for Best Value (Player who most played above his pay scale)
Clayton Stoner

The Mark Parrish Award for Worst Value (Player who was most overpaid)
Niklas Backstrom ($6M) or Nick Schultz

The No-Name Hockey Kid of the Year (Rookie of the Year)
Clayton Stoner

Hey guys, I'll put up a voting form once we've settled which awards we want to give out. This thread's just for prep work, not for voting.

How about adding another award ??

The "Sorry guys, that was my fault" award? (for consistency and persistency in letting his team down when they most need him)
  1. Brent Burns
  2. Todd Richards
  3. Matt Cullen
  4. Jose Theodore
  5. Brad Staubitz
note: Could also be called the "Brain Fart" Trophy or "What was he thinking" Trophy

I've put it on the ballot as "The Charlie Brown Trophy." Changed up the nominees slightly, though. Replaced the last 2 with Mittens and Nystrom.

Gah! I forgot another crucial one! Whom should we nominate for The Nick Punto Heart 'n Hustle Award? Tentatively, I'm thinking...
Mikko Koivu
John Madden
Nordy

Also, naming the MVP after Colbert was just because I couldn't come up with anyone who deserved to have an MVP trophy named after them. After further consideration, I think I prefer The Herb Brooks Trophy For Excellence In Hockey.

So many stupid penalties that puts his team shorthanded ... not excusable for a guy who get's 5 MOI a night.

I named it the Charlie Brown trophy, for the biggest "augh, you blockhead" moments.

The Skoula Memorial Trophy ain't a bad idea though.

It's so much easier to come up with names for our anti-trophies, haha.

Yeah, we're all horrible people for that.

Other award ideas:
Frequent Flyer Award (for the Aeros' players contribution to the Wild)
Prospect of the Year
Newbie of the Year (for those who played their first season in St. Paul)

So would the Prospect of the Year nominees be like Granlund, Zucker, Hackett, and Wellman? And then the Newbie nominees would be Nystrom, Madden, Staubitz, Théo...forgetting anyone?

Prospect: How about Scandella? If he's played less than 65 games in the NHL he still counts as a prospect.

Newbie: Nystrom, Madden, Staubitz, Theodore, Cullen, technically Barker and technically O'Sullivan.

Forgot Cullen, but Barker was definitely here last year. Anyway, got those two awards in the form. Any ideas for a name for the newbie award? The Owen Nolan "Journeyman For A Reason" Trophy?

Hey! I forgot that I get to vote on this, too. So I did.

Looks like results are flowing in at a pretty good clip. Keep 'em coming!
