The Flyers always loose at least 2 dmen every playoff. Homer is just having as much depth as he can. I still remember sammy on D back in 04, when clarke stupidly traded weinrich earlier in the season. You can never have enough D.
Though since Joe Banner probably won't be doing anything this summer I wonder if he can help homer out with cap management.

In short, you personally felt that the risk was significant enough to make it an inadvisable move, but want to rationalize a defense of Holmgren anyway by stressing the minimal nature of that risk?
It was a dumb move, with significant downside... he shouldn't have done it to get a mediocre D onto the playoff roster when we have a slew of other viable options.
How many times must this be said? It isn't the RESULT that warrants the reaction. The fact that these re-entry attempts are happening is the problem. Whether or not these players clear or don't clear, doesn't make them any less stupid.

Without looking at TSN transactions page I am going to go out on a limb and say other then Leighton and Walker all of the players who were on re-entry will be UFAs after this season.

Depending on who he's paired with, I could see Walker making a decent bottom pairing guy. It's not like OD was a monster for us; he gave Meszaros some good support but he's nothing we can't replace.

Matt Walker was barely cracking the Tampa Bay Lightening lineup last season....and when he did, he was their worse defender. When I stayed down in Florida for a few months, I had to watch the damn guy try to play hockey.
