I think its $1.6 million over two years. The PA's webiste lists his compensation at $800,000 for this season.

At the price, I like this signing a lot. If Brunette can put in 15 to 20 goals a year with the Wild he should be able to up that a bit with the Avs.

Great signing. I've always considered Brunnette underrated. I don't know if there's any way to compensate for losing Forsberg, but adding a solid and proven 2nd line scorer never hurts, especially at this price.

Looks like the Avs are signing players who have given them trouble on the ice in the past. Is Richard Park next on Lacroix's list?

No, we're going to trade with Phoenix for Brett Hull first.

Richard Park is next, and then he'll bring Cliff Ronning out of retirement.

Still bitter about Game 7, eh?

Anyway, Avs fans, about Brunette. He's not a good skater, I'll warn you, but he's pretty good on the PP down low and that's where he gets a lot of his points. I wouldn't exactly call him a 2nd line guy, he's more suited to the third with lots of PP time. He's good for about 40-50 points on the Wild (three seasons ago he had 48 assists (tied for 9th in the league) and 69 points), so playing in Colorado with more talented linemates and in a more wide-open system (not to mention league) should boost him up towards the 60 range, I would guess.

^ why is everyone so hard on brunette, he is very under rated and performs in clutch. He will produce on a line with Sakic. 20+goals minimum!

Maybe Norstrom is next on Lacroix's list. If they can't have Forsberg, they'll take the man who took his spleen.

When Belfour was a dallas star he gave the Avalanche fits.

Park would IMO be a good addition for any team. A fast player with decent skills. Detroit needs the upgrade on speed so I'd hope they would look at him.

Brunette is a decent signing. I really like the Turgeon signing and will do well as the 2nd line center. No Forsberg but he's still a decent player.

If the Avs are going after players that gave them trouble, why not sign Dino Ciccarelli?

This is a guy i wanted the wings to get. Not so happy about the turgeon and Brisebois signings, but May and Brunette were good moves by the avs. Along with the draft, i'd say(although i hate to ) the avs are in good shape.

That goal that ended Roy's career still smarts eh?

Brunette is one of the best puck cyclers out there. He works well in the corners, and used to be lethal behind the net, but that might be tougher to do now.

Plus, he's a very hard worker, and a classy guy to boot. For 800,000 a year, he's a bargain, even if his skating isn't pretty.

Good signing for that salary.

I think a lot of quite solid players are starting to get worried about playing this year, and that is reducing salary demands.

No, my friend.

2 years for a total of $1.6 M.

He will count against the cap as $800K per season.

Anyone else find this signing a bit ironic?

Too bad we didnt get McCarty too.

May, Brunette and McCarty. That would have been one trio of signings.

I think this could be a good signing for the Avs...Brunette has had some decent offensive seasons on some lousy Atlanta teams, and was a 50+ point player in the offensively challenged Wild.
