Brent Peterson

It seems like there are a decent number of openings for head coaching jobs this summer. Is this the year coach Peterson gets some serious consideration? I don't think there is a better quality individual out there on the market, and he should get some credit for what is known as Preds style hockey. Hard to argue that style doesn't translate into positive results. Florida might make an interesting destination given the connections.

Is it that he's never gotten an opportunity or did he not want to leave? I assume if he got a good offer he would leave but I really don't know.

Unfortunately, due to his battle with Parkinson's disease, Peterson faces a very uphill battle to reach his goal of becoming an NHL head coach. However, if he were to interviewed, I know the whole Predators organization would be right there to give him the best references a candidate has ever received.

Seth, you're obviously correct that the Preds would do that.

Wonder how much impact losing Peterson would have on Weber/Suter negotiations and the overall success of the team?

Brent could have been a superstar nhl coach under different circumstances. The more likely scenario is a new job with the Preds in the near future that doesn't involve the grind and stress of his current job. The boys better win a round this year for him or die trying.

I've had the pleasure of seeing him speak hockey strategy and he is very knowledgeable, well spoken, upbeat and just overall a very likable guy. Agree that if not for his disease he would have been an NHL head coach by now.

Read this article and it suggests that Peterson won't be coaching after this year. Any heard anything about that?

Wow. Had it been made public anywhere else that he was stepping down after this year? Really would be great to send him out with some playoff success

That's kind of a shocker. I'm sure he wanted to keep the decision on leaving somewhat private given his style and character, but still, I'm surprised it didn't leak out.

It's an interesting development for the team moving forward and will represent a significant change in the coaching staff, but that's for another thread on another day.

Good luck Brent "Good Cop" Peterson.

Win it for Warren just became Win it for Brent!

Add me to the list of shocked, but there will be time for that after the playoffs.

Great find, hopefully Cooper gets something on this in the Tennessean...would be nice to see fan appreciation for Peterson during these games.

Thanks for sharing that article. Lots of things about our asst. coach I didn't know. I hope he can stay on with the Preds organization in some capacity.
