Lappy will be working as a playoff coach

from @tpanotch

Pronger on ice with Walker and Ian Laperriere who is in coaches outfit and doing sprints. Pronger is not shooting. Just skating.

i like this a lot. he has a lot to give to this team and I'm happy he's been given this chance.

Good. We've missed him and his presence terribly this year.

Awesome.

Good for Lappy, the team, and the Phantoms kids especially.

Me too honestly! I've always thought the world of Lappy and that was BEFORE what happened to him against Jersey...and I'm with you that I'm thrilled he's been given this chance too! Can only be seen as a positive for sure!

Lappy was at the Town Hall meeting tonight. He is apparently building a place in Jersey and will be sticking around in the organization in some way (possibly as a scout or in a coaching position).

I was at the game where he took the shot to the face in NJ...fans were cheering. Me and my friend went ballistic and started yelling at everyone to have some respect. They say we have no class :/

I think it's great he's staying in the organization, and frankly his absence in the locker room is probably a big problem. I wish he could come back and play, but I think his energy is infectious even if he's not playing, so it's great to have him around.

For what it's worth, it is unlikely Lappy will ever play again, but the organization loves him. The impression I got from Homer was that Lappy can pretty much just tell Homer what he wants to do and Lappy will be given a job. That's class.

Definitely a class move all around. It'll be interesting to see what sort of role they carve out for him next year.

Something in my waters tells me we will miss him badly on the ice, but to have the next best situation of him in a coaching capacity is a real smart move by Homer or whoevers call it was.

I hope he stays with the organisation for a LONG time.

So if Flyers win the Cup there will be text "Ian Laperriere"?
