my favourite line was zednik-koivu-kovalev. i still get goosebumps thinking of them and the misery they caused the bruins in the playoffs

Maximus and DD were probably the best duo in the AHL in recent memory

DD has great vision, precise passes

Max is the big body here

Gionta shoots like if he was a tennis practice machine

I think we have the ingredients for an incredible line
Pacioretty-Eller-Kostitsyn

DD should replace Blowmez though. Gomez has become a pure perimeter player who can't win an offensive zone battle to save his life and tries to make the "perfect pass" into a horde of defenders who then proceed to counter attack.

Pacioretty - Gomez - Gionta
Cammalleri- Plekanec - Kostitsyn
Kostitsyn - Plekanec - Kovalev
Tanguay - Koivu - Kovalev
Higgins - Koivu - Ryder

let's get some others
One of my favorites, though seldom played, were -- as a 2nd line:

Higgins - Pleks - A Kostitsyn

Kovalev had 84 points in 07-08, Plekanec and Kostitsyn career years.

How anyone can talk about DD-Gionta-Pacioretty as our best line in recent years is beyond me. Two of those three haven't played a full NHL season yet! Patience!!

Agreed.

This is just 1 of a number of (player) examples as to why the HABS are not currently and don't appear to be in the near future....a true Cup contender!

The key to becoming a real contender is in drafting really well.

Assuming they continue to draft well...lookout for the Oilers in about 5 years - they are biting the bullett - going with youth and drafting (potential) franchise players!

Habs (and most other teams).......continue to build by "the patch job" despite the fact that it has been repeatedly proven that the "the patch job" approach to rebuilding generally does not build a true contender!

.

Granted it's pre-lock-out but I liked the Petrov-Gilmour-Zednik line

That line was absolutely flying at the end of the year and in the playoffs. Such an odd combination of players but they really were fun to watch. Some Bruin meat head took care of all that, of course.

Pouliot - Gomez - Gionta was an unstoppable line for few games when Poupou first started here.

That's probably my favorite line as well. Though Perezhogin filled in nicely while Zednik was injured.

The ATAK line was not only the best in recent years but among the best line since the last cup. In 2007-2008 it was one of the best line in the league, to watch them was like delivering justice with the sword of a thousand truths.
