I'd resign him for another year or two. If a younger guy can't beat out Feds in training camp for a spot, then that player isn't ready yet. Unfortunately we are going to have to trim the fat at some point.

Not a priority in my book. Get the RFAs signed, get Richards signed, and then worry about these types of signings.

I'd take he and Prospal back for a combined price of lower than Wolski, and ditch Wolski.

Just me personally.

If we could somehow shed his $3.8M, I would be ecstatic.

Even though he seems like a good guy, he just doesn't play the game with heart. He's like the tin man out there. It's a shame to see so much talent go to waste.

Id prefer him over Crusher if I was able to choose, but obviously one still has a contract. I would like him back as long as it doesn't take a spot for someone like Grachev or Hagelin (assuming they earn it). If Avery/Drury/Christensen were all gone, then I would resign him in a heartbeat.

No Prospal, please. Vaslav to retirement. Let him leave on the good note.
Keep both WW and Feds. We have very little forward depth.

Feds is a good checking forward. I'd keep him.

I don't know why he'd take a sweetheart deal of both low money and short (1yr) term to stay here. Loyalty is great, but the guy plays pro hockey to make a living. If Tortorella was loyal to him, he'd tell the guy to go out and get as much money as he can. It's not like he's a kid, how many serious good money making seasons does he have left? I like him, but that roster spot is one I want people competing for in camp.

His numbers arent any better than last year, and he was having trouble finding an NHL spot going into camp.

I find it hard to believe that he would have astronomical contract demands.

I'd prefer we find someone younger with an upside. someone that can learn from our core how we play the game.

need to shed Christ also.

Letting both Feds and Prospal walk to make room for wildly unproved guys like Grachev or Hagelin would be a mistake. We've seen how much injuries can take their toll, especially given the way this team plays, and there's nothing to indicate that Grachev is ready to win a spot on the team. Why not go into camp with options?

Precisely.

If Hagelin wins a spot over Feds, then great!.. we've got Hags in a third line LW spot with Feds as a 7th man in case of injury or whatev. if not and Hagelin's sent to the A, we've got Feds who's a proven checking forward. No harm, no foul.

I would love to see him back in blue. The guy can play. He understands Tort's system to a T.

Resign him and keep the Fed-Boyle-Prust line in tact. One of our most productive lines (If not the most) all season.

Invite him to camp, there are only so many roster spots. VP, Feds, you add Richards, Zuccarello, Wolski, who's not playing?

I like him, but I think you need to move out Avery, Wolski, and Drury to fit him in, especially if you want Feds, VP, and Richards.

I agree with this synopsis.

No one is going to be given a roster spot. Ruslan has earned his spot. He does his role very well. I would get rid of Wolski/EC before i let him walk.

Let's see how he does in the playoffs and then he could be resigned just for depth as you know what you can expect from him in case younger players falter.

I agree, I would tend to say thanks for the hard work but move on

I want Ricahrds and RFA's signed first then see whats left. I don't think much would be left so I would rather Hagelin gets a spot for example.

On the other hand I think Torts lkies Feds and Vinny for that matter so maybe they do come back based on that

it is a tough call but rather bring in more youth and save the cash for others

As crazy as it sounds, I would rather move Wolski, Avery(waive?) and Christensen for a decent return and retain Fedotenko. He is the ideal 3rd/4th line winger. He Pk's, hits, is hard on the puck and creates both energy and chances.

Let MZA, Grachev, Kreider(if he signs), Thomas, Werek and Hagelin battle it out for those 2 3rd line winger spots or the 4th line center spot of Boyle moves to wing.

_______-Richards-Gaborik
Dubinsky-Anisimov-Callahan
_______-Stepan-________
Prust-Boyle-Fedotenko

Even if they bring Prospal back that allows Tortorella to ease in whoever those 2 rookie wingers are. Let ehm play 8-10 minutes a game and give the Boyle line more time as we all know they can handle it.

Injuries will happen. He is a great depth guy.

Hell, who wouldnt sign up for:

Prospal-Richards-Gaborik
Dubinsky-Anisimov-Callahan
Kreider-Stepan-Thomas/Hagelin/MZA
Prust-Boyle-Fedotenko

+1

I like him, but I would like to see what our cap situation looks like if we go after Richards, plus I wouldn't want to block any prospects.

I wouldn't make any roster choices till after the playoffs. The playoffs carry weight in those decisions.

Hoping not to speak too soon, but check out Fedotenko's NHL playoff stats. His style of play allows for him to be successful when the games ratchet up.

I'd like to see him back, but like others have said, it has to be at the right price. The guy scored 25 points in 66 games, which is not too shabby for a 4th/3rd liner. Plus, he's 32; it's not like he's 36 or 37.

I think he adds some good scoring, forechecking, & veteran presence to the bottom lines.
