Pre-Playoff Game Rituals

A thread about all our of traditions, habits, and rituals we do to get ready for the playoffs and bring our team good luck and/or jinx the opposing team.

I wear my favorite jersey and hat. Followed by drinking my good luck beer and whisky. I will also usually eat my favorite pizza, pasta, or sopressata prior to the game.

If they're up or even in the series: Hit the local pub and drink St.Ambroise Cream Ale.

If they're down: Stay at home and drink Creemore Springs.

Usually only wear a jersey during elimination games

I can only watch the games with flyers fans or by myself. Also for some reason last year during every commercial break I had to get up and walk around for a minute then sit back down....haha dont ask me why...

I've been banned from wearing my Richards All Star jersey, as everyone game I watched with it on, they lost. I stopped wearing it after game 4 of the Boston series last year...

I hit the rub and tug down the street before every game. Before I started doing that I would get these mini nervous breakdowns.

I usually just meet up with Carter and Richie for a few Jagerbombs until they have to get suited up.

I never post in gameday threads until the game has started.

I smoke my lucky American Spirit cig before the game.

If it's an away game, I stream the game rather than watch it on TV.

And I always, ALWAYS wear my Richards jersey that hasn't been washed for two years.

I ALWAYS wear one of my Jerseys. Either my signed Coburn replica jersey or my Richards Authentic.

I need to be set up in my 'spot' (seat on the couch, computer chair etc) with everything I would possibly want during each period within arms reach. These things usually include a beverage (One of Coffee, Beer, Pop), snacks (chips mostly), my phone (to thwart off any negative texts or send jabs the other way) and my laptop (for stats checking, checking the boards occasionally etc).

I wouldn't call it susperstition because parts of it change from time to time, I would simply call it a routine.

If I am not set up about 15 minutes prior to puck drop my heart starts to race, I get flustered and annoyed, because in most cases, I am not the reason why I'm 'late'.

Also, no channel changing during the period, regardless of commercials. Its okay to change during the intermission for about ten minutes, but I need to be back on the game for puck drop again.

My friends find me difficult to watch playoff hockey with, but in all seriousness, I am only like this for Flyers games, and the more/less important a game is the more or less serious I am about following the routine. If they are up 3-0 in a series I am less likely to be super serious then if they were down 3-2 etc.

The out-pouring of love for our team through our pre-game rituals is heart-warming to see.

This is dedication my friends.

This is dedication.

LOL - Is their room left in the Cartsie? It must have disintegrated by now.

I blow up my old inflatable Stanley Cup and refuse to touch it again until the Flyers win the cup.
Klondike bars between periods when down by a goal or goals. Each bar represents a goal. I usually need help with this one.

1. Always watch with my brother, only other Flyer fan I know. NEVER with non fans or fake fans (Love the Flyers, Brad Richards is my favorite player. Cool - **** off.)
2. Always wear my Claude Giroux signed Jersey
3. Wear a Flyer shirt underneigh, usually a Briere, sometimes Richards, Pronger, etc
4. 1 beer per period

I used to be very superstitous. But the past few years I watch on PVR(recorded) after the kids are in bed, so it seems kind of stupid with superstitions. Like Dude, you know they already played right? Changing chairs ain't gonna take us back in time....

I don't have ritual per se. More of habit(s) - Usually a HUGE ****.

this may be the craziest one.. i share some with you guys such as sitting in my spot.. not changing the channel.. not watching the game with non-flyer fans..but one of the most important ones is:

keeping the channel volume on a Flyers player's number .. also the number cannot be of a player on the other team.
