Nucks best team in league, but played in weakest division, so it's a little skewed. Not much difference between 1-8 in the West. LA stronger back line than Sharks. Goaltending is a wash, Quick better numbers this season, Niemi has won Cup.
Anze is gone, not coming back, no way, no how. Kings not offensive team, take out top scorer, defense oriented team. Kings won't be taking penalties. Kings gonna play close to vest, disciplined game. Gotta keep Sharks off PP.
Don't want to jump to next round, Hahn said. Nucks beat Sharks 3 times, Detroit wasn't a big factor in the season, but always are. Sharks handled Phoenix but are still dangerous. Anaheim have their guys.
7 goal scorers. Top dogs. The guy that changed everything was Couture. Came in as rookie, but not pure rookie because of 25 games, will lose some votes for that. Emergence as a top player pushed Pavs to 3rd line, but spread the wealth and got Pavs with Mitchell and Wellwood, that's a scoring threat 3rd line. Hard to win in Playoffs without 3rd and 4th line scoring.
3rd line is great. Most coaches would drool over Thornton, Couture, Pavs for top 3 lines. Game is built around the middle, starts with the goalie, who's in the middle, then up the center, which the Sharks are built with.
LA travel is nice. Makes you feel like eastern conference, but if you buy into it, you start to believe it's gonna be easy. It's not gonna be easy. It's gonna be a tough series, it's the playoffs, it'll be what the first round in NHL playoffs is. Best first round series in any sports. Hardest games, most upsets.
