Well we're just not as good as they are. We can fight, and fight hard, but heart only gets you so far, and then you're at a point where you need the talent.

This loss is all on Staal? He shut the Capitals down all ****ing game. Blame the offense. One goal in nearly 80 minutes is what lost us the game.

"What have you done for me lately?"

I didn't see any bad Rangers out there tonight. A few bad plays but I thought they looked good.

Sure, it's a loss, but they were more than in that game. I'm really looking forward to next game. Would like to see Avery in the lineup. Not faulting anyone tonight.

They need to practice getting out of their zone. Truly scary all night long.

They both made horrible plays on that goal.

Bonehead play by Staal there. He was fantastic tonight though. Girardi too. Boyle and Prust worked hard all night. Wolski was good, Dubi not so much. Gaborik was OK. Props to Matty Gilroy. Proud of the boys.

Looked like Renney hockey in the OT, zero offense, just playing to survive, was bound to happen. Caps deserved it.

The Good: Lundqvist
The bad : The refs on their game tying goal
The Redden: Marc Staal showing a complete lack of winners mentality with that utterly retarded play in OT. **** off

Meh...I guess the NHL War Room doesnt use the "intent to blow the whistle" rule in the playoffs, especially when it's a call against the home team.

Whatever. Caps wanted this game more and it showed from the puck drop. In reality, score should have been 4-1 or 3-1 if not for the post and Henrik.

Rangers had almost 4 days off and looked lazy and slow.

Sad.

my bad i thought the guy who passed it was Drury, but it was Staal...Sigh

what a terrible loss...But its game 1...and I hope we respond for Game 2.

More then likely we would have fell flat if we found a way to win game 1, just like when we faced the Capitals last time.

This is a tough loss

Not sure how this loss can be attributed to Staal when the offense had maybe 2 legit scoring chances the whole OT.

how is this on staal? all 3 forwards flew the zone while the puck was by the goal line. that was all captain clutch. how do you muff the puck at the blue line then proceed to fly the zone? moron...hope it doesnt ruin your weekend

Gabby showed NO offense. Wide open out front with tons of time and directly into the chest of the goaltender? Redic.

Bad play by staal, but just his fault? The whole team but henrik left after we got scored on.

For everyone blaming Staal, look forward to doing it more. You can only play so much before the fatigue catches up to you. The guy is leaned on too heavily at this point, he needs some support back there.

Rangers played a decent game. The better team won. Let's hope they can do a little better on Friday night.

Rangers were outplayed the entire game. Puck seemed like it was in their zone 75% of the time. Just brutal, no offensive flow. Everything was behind the net and on the boards. Once they moved it from there it was intercept. Shots all blocked. Just horrible offense.

Caps lock down in their D zone. Collapse the net like no one's business. I feel like we were playing 90s Devils.

This game reminds me of the 2008 playoffs against the pens with the slewfoots and ******** goals and high sticks where drury is bleeding from his face and no call. We didn't have a chance in that series and we are ****ed now if the rest of this series goes that way.

Between that goal and the Ovechkin high stick called a rough the rangers don't stand a chance.
only in the new nhl.

Yup. That's what happens when you are playing against a clearly superior team. And guess what - Brad Richards would not make us evenly matched with the Craps.

We need to wait for our prospects to join the Rangers. This game is further proof. The Rangers can work as hard as you want, they can care as much as you want, but ultimately, they can't play against the better teams in the league.

This is what happens when certain players is TOO much on the ice (Staal), when the coach doesn't play ALL players and when key players are JUST not there..

People are going to blame the refs, but I feel we weren't there after they were handed the goal for choping away at our goalie and our players doens't even take them out...

Yeah, we got completely outplayed. But you know what? We legitimately put a puck in the net in regulation.

They had to rely on some ridiculous call to get one. So yeah, I think I have a right to whine about the refs. Goaltender is a position too.

It's game 1. No biggie. No series has ever been decided in the first game. I think they played pretty well except for the first period. Staal makes a miscue by not getting the puck out and it cost them. Lesson hopefully learned.
