Vinnie Damphousse

Ok, he's unsigned and follows the old man look that Keenan has gone with this offseason. Capable of playing center or the left side, and as I've said in the past, Huselius produced his rookie year fromt he right side. Former captain of the Sharks and plays both ends of the ice. Much better choice imo over Bondra and could possibly be signed for about the same or less money. So with that said, how would you freaks like a top two line of...

Damphousse - Jokinen - Horton
Roberts - Nieuwendyk - Huselius

Then the Cleveland Clinic can invest in those new walkers for the rehab unit.

I agree, I've always been a fan of Vinny's. He'd be a solid addition to the top 2 lines, especially with Atlanta pursuing Bondra. He's far from his glory days in Montreal, but he's solid at both ends and can still score a few points.

I was always under the impression he was more of a playmaker than a finisher, and this team lacks finishers. Not a great pickup, imo.

Which would then kill the arguement about Selanne being not worth a pick up because "all he does is tip it in" over on the Selanne thread.

[badjoke]He likes tipping it in with Kariya especially.[/badjoke]

Eh, I'd rather have Selanne or Bondra. But I think we should find our needs via other teams losses, like getting Sykora from Anaheim or players from some other high cap team.

Agree, we got alot of young playmakers and we need a pure goal scorer, and it doesn't matter on age. We just need one for this year. I say we pursue Bondra and land him here instead of him landing in Atlanta Cause if they do get him they have a possible lines of

Heatly-Savard-Kovalchuk
Bondra-Holik-???

Regardless of the ??? player that's a pretty solid two lines.

You're correct, Damphousse is known more for his playmaking ability. I wouldn't be opposed to adding him (would love it), though I agree we are more in need of finishers on this team.

Who are your two players in your avatar, it's been bothering me for quite some time now, and does anyone know what happened to a possible Bertuzzi trade?

Damphouse with Jokinen and Horton has two finishers and Damphousse as the set up man. Roberts and Huselius on both sides of Nieuwendyk would be your finishers there with Joe settin them up. Both set up artists can also score some net some goals, so it ends up bein a balanced attack. What you folks are lookin for is a top six of nothing but finishers and no set up men except for Nieuwendyk.

You're forgetting Weiss. Jokinen is a balanced attack more than a finisher (read: 26 goals last season, more assists than goals). Horton's health is currently a question mark, as is his NHL status (as you've seen rumours have him starting in the minors). Huselius...come on.

In order to say we're okay with finishers really depends upon a lot of players improving their play.

Aside from Roberts and Jokinen, we don't have any proven finishers on the team. Horton, Huselius, ect... are still not proven, nor consistent yet.
