Unless we're up by 3 and he gets beat to a pulp in a fight, thereby turning the momentum to the Sabres. Somebody needs to show Lavi the Pittsburgh game from two years ago when we were winning 3-0 when Talbot destroys Carbomb and then the Pens score 5 unanswered. Series over.

Carcillo should not be playing unless it's necessary.

ETA: You know whats funny, I just watched the fight. Carcillo actually beat him up. I was there too, I guess I knew it was such a bad idea at the time I remembered it incorrectly.

Carcillo didn't repeat that act a year ago, why would he do it now?

Also, Talbot was the one getting his ass kicked.

Carcillo ended up being scratched for Nodl later in last year's playoffs. And this was callup Nodl, not the Nodl from this year

Yep, see my edit. I just don't want him doing anything stupid. We take enough penalties as is, we don't need him adding fuel to the Sabres fire.

I might be wrong, but I have a really good feeling about tonight. I feel like the team is getting fired up after learning that most analysts are picking the Sabres. I think they're going to come out of the gate absolutely flying. And maybe it will become evident that the end of the Season was just a case of them looking too far ahead of themselves. I am confident that this team is going to be ready to play tonight.

Great GDT MSE. Really pumped for this.

On the AC/DC theme, this would be appropriate.

Carcillo is a good game 1 player, good player to set the tone.

Zherdev on the other hand would be a good choice too giving us a goal threat when he is on the ice.

I think we should just be happy we have this deep roster.

The question I have with Lavi not playing Z has more to do with going against an elite goalie where offense may be at a premium. Even more so if the power play isn't working.

We need all the offense we can get. Also, Z's defense hasn't been atrocious since he got back into the lineup recently. He's never going to be great or even consistently good but it's manageable and with the potential you get with him offensively as a threat to the opposition, I'd be willing to take my chances.

I guess that's all I'm really trying to say.
Carcillo brings nothing to the table. He acts like a girl and let's his emotions get the better of him. He's going to take a dumb ****ing penalty trying to act tough. He's terrible and shouldn't be playing

Can you point to a single game this year where he's helped the Flyers? Just one. I'm not asking much.

You cannot blame that loss on Carcillo, come on now. Not a huge Carcillo fan only because he has not been playing well and has punked out a couple times recently, but that loss was entirely on the players who were on the ice and lost to a team who was better.

BTW, looking at the numbers:

Asham -1
Carter -2
Gagne -2
Jones -1
Parent -2
Powe -1
Richards -3
Timonen -3

Does anyone else think the defense might be a little better if Syvret was switched with either Mesz or O'Donnell? I don't think Carle should be anchoring a pairing with a rookie/inexperienced defender.

PREVIOUS FLYERS vs SABRES April 14th Clashes:

On April 14th, 2000, with Sabres fans still reeling over Brett Hull’s illegal goal that ended the Cup Finals in 1999, Buffalo was quickly served another dose of unbelievable controversy. In Game Two of the first round of the 2000 playoffs, John LeClair’s shot would find its way past Dominik Hasek and into the net – but only after passing through the netting along the side of the net.

The goal counted, Philly took a 2-0 games advantage, and would go on to win the series 4 games to 1. It quickly earned the name “No Goal II.”

On April 14th, 2001, the Sabres found themselves facing the Flyers again in Game Two of the first round of the playoffs. This time, Jay McKee would collect a pass from Erik Rasmussen, and slid the puck past netminder Roman Cechmanek in overtime.
