I don't want to see any wishes for Capital player injuries. Every time in my life that i've wished harm upon an opposing team's player the rangers have lost. My friend did it before the last game... we lost.
None of it. Believe we can beat them even with their best players on the ice... because our team can.
We need more pressure on their goalie. Can't give them momentum with powerplays. And most importantly Henrik needs to remain amazing. Anything short of that and we're in trouble unless we can post up 6 or 7 again.
We suck at home. If we cant win on the road we're done.
Do they though? There was another thread about their home/road splits which cited these numbers:
Home: 125 Goals/98 Goals Against = +27
Road: 99 Goals/97 Goals Against = +2
I think the Rangers were a bad home team at first, seemed like they started playing better at home towards the end of the season, specifically when they wore their road whites against the flyers and subsequently killed them.
I don't think our home record is as bad as it was earlier in the year.
In fact, since and including that game against the flyers they were 6-1-1 at home.
Now that being said, a split in DC is a key to this series, IMO.
Christensen to Center the 1st line? What exactly did he do in game 1 to deserve this? he was invisible as usual! It was a physical game, which he never does well in, and he just floated!
MZA still in over Avery? MZA was also invisible in the last game. He looked intimidated by all the physical action and the only notable thing he did was take a bad penalty! This is going to be a very physical series so we need Avery in there over MZA! For all of Torts's talk about how MZA is in there for scoring, during the regular season MZA had 6 goals while Avery had 3 goals, wow, big difference!
We also need to get Gaborik going. The only time he looked good in Game 1 was when he ended up on a line with Boyle as Center.
So lines I'd love to see, but never will:
Prospal - Boyle - Gaborik
Avery - Stepan - Dubinsky
Wolski - Anisimov - Fedotenko
Prust - Drury - Christensen
I dont really want Christensen in there, but we dont exactly have a lot of good replacements. So throw him on line 4.
I am looking forward to the day that EC is no longer on this team. As for the lines, with the exception of scratches, I am not really sure how much they matter. You know torts is going to change them after 1 shift anyway. That has always driven me nuts about him.
I would give anything to totally go back to 7:30 starts. Gives the commuters of the world an extra half an hour to get to thier destination. Makes a big difference. Not fun paying rediculous amounts of money for season and missing half the first period.
