Take one in Washington just to see their awesome fan reactions. I hope the guy who tried to moon the TSN cameras is back this year.

I must be the only one that realizes until we lose one at home we're in decent shape. Winning this game would be huge, but I don't think we're done for if we lose.

Kind of happy I only can watch first period. Checking my phone later on in the night for the final is less stressful than actually watching the game. Call me crazy but it just is.

My Usual rant on how we'll do fine is back..

So for this one, we NEED to;

* Protect Lundqvist BETTER..

* MAN UP...

* Own the ice in front of BOTH goals..

* Screen theire goalie early...

*Shot AT the goal, and NOT besides it..

* Shot instead of passing the puck while on PP..

* Heads and sticks DOWN on the ice in front of BOTH goals....

* Shot/aim HIGH on theire goalie...

Let's go boys.

I don't want to see any wishes for Capital player injuries. Every time in my life that i've wished harm upon an opposing team's player the rangers have lost. My friend did it before the last game... we lost.

None of it. Believe we can beat them even with their best players on the ice... because our team can.

We need more pressure on their goalie. Can't give them momentum with powerplays. And most importantly Henrik needs to remain amazing. Anything short of that and we're in trouble unless we can post up 6 or 7 again.

Here we go. We need this one.

Always felt it was important to take at least one of these first two games. However, I wouldn't rule us out if we don't.

Just hoping that the refs noticed Ovie's dirty play's in the first game and call him on it tonight...

Plenty of high elbow shots, high sticks, late hits and sticks to the back of the necks of the Ranger players...

Clearly he was frustrated...but come on man..play fair..

If he's ejected from the game cause of any of this I'll fist pump my shoulder out of it's place...

I've noticed this somewhat, but what do you attribute it to- lack of consistency or something more dire like a MSG voodoo curse.

Come on Rangers, 1-1 returning to NY with some home town support, I'm waiting on my Lundqvist jersey to be shipped (to Australia which takes forever)- please don't be eliminated first round!

EDIT: Oh and can anybody tell me why my avatar is not showing in my posts?

Do they though? There was another thread about their home/road splits which cited these numbers:

Home: 125 Goals/98 Goals Against = +27
Record: 20-17-4

Road: 99 Goals/97 Goals Against = +2
Record:24-16-1

My response:
I think the Rangers were a bad home team at first, seemed like they started playing better at home towards the end of the season, specifically when they wore their road whites against the flyers and subsequently killed them.
I don't think our home record is as bad as it was earlier in the year.

In fact, since and including that game against the flyers they were 6-1-1 at home.

Now that being said, a split in DC is a key to this series, IMO.

Lines

I'm very frustrated with these lines for today.

Christensen to Center the 1st line? What exactly did he do in game 1 to deserve this? he was invisible as usual! It was a physical game, which he never does well in, and he just floated!

MZA still in over Avery? MZA was also invisible in the last game. He looked intimidated by all the physical action and the only notable thing he did was take a bad penalty! This is going to be a very physical series so we need Avery in there over MZA! For all of Torts's talk about how MZA is in there for scoring, during the regular season MZA had 6 goals while Avery had 3 goals, wow, big difference!

We also need to get Gaborik going. The only time he looked good in Game 1 was when he ended up on a line with Boyle as Center.

So lines I'd love to see, but never will:
Prospal - Boyle - Gaborik
Avery - Stepan - Dubinsky
Wolski - Anisimov - Fedotenko
Prust - Drury - Christensen

I dont really want Christensen in there, but we dont exactly have a lot of good replacements. So throw him on line 4.

I am looking forward to the day that EC is no longer on this team. As for the lines, with the exception of scratches, I am not really sure how much they matter. You know torts is going to change them after 1 shift anyway. That has always driven me nuts about him.

same here, I have to be up at 3:30 am for a 12 hour workday tomorrow, doubt I will be able to make it through this whole game. That extra half hour would at least give me the 1st period.

I would give anything to totally go back to 7:30 starts. Gives the commuters of the world an extra half an hour to get to thier destination. Makes a big difference. Not fun paying rediculous amounts of money for season and missing half the first period.

The way I see it, Washington brought everything they had and we held them to one garbage goal in regulation.

The Rangers, on the other hand, weren't going 100%. Their forecheck was off for a lot of the game. There were a lot of boneheaded decisions and bad turnovers.

Yet, again, we held them to one garbage goal in regulation.

If the Rangers were playing at 100% in Game 1, we win that game.

I think if we can bring that extra gear to this series, we can take it.
