I think with his raw physical strength Oreskovich can intimidate people. He doesn't even have to be able to fight: he's so big and strong he can just grab on to people and squeeze/neutralize them.

Reminds me of big Tim Horton. For you kids that think it's just a coffee and donut shop, gather around and I'll tell you a story...

Did you know a single sour cream glazed timbit has 90 calories, 50% more than most other timbits!? Wow.

(I was trying to preempt would I thought would surely be an impending, picture-filled story by Wetcoaster about how strong Tim Horton was. Sadly, it never happened.)

Nice to have these problems though.
Then Hodgson will come out, and it's as simple as that. AV just doesn't trust him enough to give him major minutes, whereas a guy like Glass he has no problem playing and rightfully so. Glass' physical play fits well, and he isn't a liability. We aren't sure if Hodgson is yet, but we can't make that test in the playoffs.

Sedin-Sedin-Burrows
Higgins-Kesler-Samuelsson
Torres-Raymond-Hansen
Glass-LaPierre-Oreskovich

That's a solid line up, and our combination of skill, speed, and toughness in the bottom 6 will help us tire the Hawks out. Hodgson steps in as soon as we have an injury, or maybe in the next round against a less offensive opponent.

Of HIS time sure, but he wouldn't even get a sniff of the AHL these days. Players, esp D, are way better, can't see how anyone could argue that. The game is so much faster, and everyone has skills.

yeah, especially in Chicago where AV has no control who Hodgson is matched up against

You can't compare players from different eras. Players today spend hours in the gym, have the teams plan their diet and their sleep patterns tracked. You think Horton had that?

Yeah, I think this makes the most sense. Again, depends on how Cody and Victor play tonight. Oreskovich just needs to keep it controlled, don't get out of position, don't take penalties and support the puck defensively.

As another poster mentioned though having Hodgson as the 3rd line center while playing in Chicago may be troublesome. I'm not worried about him getting the jitters, but AV will not be able to shelter his minutes near as well when on the road. As such, today is a huge test for him. If he does slot back in at some point, it will likely be when were back at home to ensure he doesn't get rusty as the playoffs progress.

Or.....the first game there is an injury at forward, home or away.

that makes sense if AV wants to maximize the physicallity of the lineup. If he wants to increase skill and offensive depth I could see something like:

Sedin-Sedin-Burrows
Higgins-Kesler-Samuelsson
Torres-Lapierre-Hansen
Raymond-Hodgson-Oreskovich

Gives you four defensively responsible lines, a "fourth" line that has a big hitter but is also a threat to score, especially against the scrubs CHI is dressing in their bottom six, and a third line that isn't quite a shut-down line, but can probably get under CHI's skin (I think Hansen has some inner-troll that playing with Lapierre would help him embrace).

Top 6 is pretty well set at this point, barring injuries. And choosing between Glass and Hodgson gives our bottom 6 completely different looks, both of which could be effective. Heck, that fourth line is probably comparable to CHI's 2nd, give or take a Hossa.

Just mind boggling. It was half the collision of Getzlaf on Hamhuis.

That is absolute trash. The hit was horrible. Not even in the same league as Torres'.

4 games for a boarder-line hockey/dirty hit vs. 1 game for a blatant dirty hit targeting the head from behind.

It doesn't make any sense.
