Let's see what the new lines can do. I understand most people hate on EC because he is so inconsistent but the dude has skill and has played well with gabby and prospal. He also has one hell of a shot when he takes it. Torts has to tell him to SHOOT! Avery should def be in but zucc will play under 8 min and its good for his development. Gaborik absolutely has to be a factor.
besides the higlighted portion, i've seen this same exact post in just about every game day thread...same shat different toilet my friends.
I've learned to temper my expectations with Avery a bit, but I'm happy that he's playing. I believe Avery's had limited success with Anisimov in the past. He'll also add some much-needed physicality - Rangers let the Caps dictate the physical tempo of the game and that needs to change.
Also, it's quite clear that OV, Semin, and Co. get a little flustered when things don't go their way. If Avery can throw them off their game a little more, I'm all for it.
Avery, Avery , Avery…… OK not really a rallying cry but I want to see him in…..
I want to see someone put the hurt on OV…. I use to really like the guy but as pointed out by others and by his actions he is a dirty player….. he’s not a crybaby like Crosby but I sure lost a lot of respect for him…..
Avery and EC in….. Zucc out (my 2 cents)…. Hopefully EC is off his Zoloft and Avery is the on HIS game……….
I’d like to see a blow out like during the season……
Gabby is on the verge of breaking out of his season long slump….. We have seen it building….. let it happen on game two.
if avery is dressed and is on the ice with Ovy, its a bench mistake and torts is simply setting his goat up to fail. Avery has not business being on the same sheet of ice with Ovy...EVER. And we dont have anyone who can put a hurt on ovy, we just dont...sucks but its true.
that said, my heart could sure use a blowout as well tonight lol.
This will be interesting. People were *****ing about the penalty Mats took in game 1 (even though it was BS call). Now lets see if Avery can keep himself in check, I am afraid he won't be able to. Hope I am wrong though, we really need this one!
In discussing his lineup choice, coach John Tortorella expressed some reservations about the 5-foot-7 Zuccarello and “whether he can handle the size and the overall consistency of playoff hockey, I’m not sure.” Tortorella said he still wasn’t sure where Zuccarello’s NHL career would play out but that he certainly had a chance to adapt
“It’s been a long year for him as far as up and down and learning the new game in North American, playing in the minors with everybody chasing you around,” Tortorella said. “It’s still an open book for him as to where he sits as a National Hockey Leaguer. He sees the ice. He makes some plays that some players don’t see.”
I'll set the over/under on some of Avery's signature moves:
Bad Penalties: 1
Fails to Clear the Zone: 2
Blind Backhand Pass from Behind the Net Turnover: 2
Blatant Dives: 2.5
I want to be clear; I loved what Avery brought when he first came to the team, but now that is ancient history. He has had plenty of chances this year to make a positive contribution and has failed to do it. I just can't see him making any sort of net positive impact.
