Devils sign Union College FA G Keith Kinkaid

According to his personal Facebook page (I went to high school with him), Union College UFA goalie Keith Kinkaid has signed with the Devils.

Keith was and is an Islanders fan, but for a young goalie there may not be a better opportunity than New Jersey right now.

Hopefully it's true, Kinkaid and Pat Nagle (signed with Tampa) were two guys I wanted the Devils to pursue. Never got a chance to see Kinkaid play at Union, but he had a nice buzz about him going through the season. After Union was eliminated from the tournament a couple weeks ago, Kinkaid said he was going back to school. I wonder if there was any particular reason for the change of heart.

1. Contract terms are probably very good
2. Devils don't have much in the pipeline right now, there is a big opportunity for Kinkaid moving forward
3. Location - He's from Long Island

Also, he announced this via Facebook? My guess is Lou won't like that.

He did not exactly announce it...more so all his friends are congratulating him, and he has responded to a few with "Thanks"...so more so it spread via word of mouth

Announced via his facebook ? Well he's already starting out horribly.

This was a worse start than a 4 goal game in his first game.

He's got pretty good stats (not sure how competitive the leagues are but regardless)

It's not a bad league, but it isn't the strongest NCAA league. I'm not sure what his potential is, but I'm sure they'll give him a look in the ECHL or AHL next season.

Good to hear. He's 20 minutes away from where I live so it's cool to hear about a local kid getting signed by the Devils. Kelly Zajac is also on the Union team.

So now it's Kinkaid, Sova, and Sislo this year for undrafted college FAs. Not a bad haul.

I saw him play against Cornell in January. Cornell get beat pretty bad and I don't remember Kinkaid seeing a lot of work, but he looked pretty good if memory serves.

Can't hurt to get more goalies in the system. Let's see what he's got.

I wish we could get Brad Theissen into our system. He is an RFA this year. I wonder what Pittsburgh will do with him.

Agreed, there's nothing wrong with testing out a bunch of goalies and seeing if one of them will be able to hack it as a starter in the NHL someday.
