POTG & GBR: ECQF Game 2 @ Washington Capitals

Player of the Game & The Good, The Bad, The Redden

The RulesWhat is the poll for?

You are voting for the player of the game - the one who put forth the most effort, who put the team on his shoulders, who contributed the most.

Do not vote for the player who had the best statistical game just because he had the best statistical game.

This does not mean you should not vote for the player of who had the best statistical game, but do not vote for him just because of that fact.

Who can I vote for?

You may vote for any player who dressed for the game and played at least one shift. If the player you want to vote for is not included in the poll, select "Other" and indicate in your post who you wish to vote for. In the case that I egregiously miss the player who everyone wants to vote for in the poll, I will count the votes in the thread.

What is this "The Good, The Bad, The Redden" nonsense?

It is my twist on the title of the famous spaghetti western movie, The Good, the Bad and the Ugly.

Since multiple players may have outstanding games and you can only vote for one player in the poll, this affords you the opportunity to recognize multiple players, or a facet of the team, for their commendable play ("The Good"). This also affords you the opportunity to rip players, or a facet of the team, for their particularly substandard play ("The Bad"). Finally, just as "The Player of the Game" affords you the opportunity to recognize the best, this affords you the opportunity to commend the crème de la crème of the worst, who delivered an atrocious performance, or whose singular (or multiple) bad plays directly led to the the detriment of the team ("The Redden").

Horrible game. To think we're a better team on the road?

Wouldn't be surprised to not score another goal the rest of the series at the rate we're playing.

Can't really take anything positive from this game at all.

9 shots in the last two periods. Pathetic.

Can't even score when the King doesn't have to play in God Mode.

Another easy game for Neuvirth.

I hate to say it guys, but unless our offense changes, I can't picture us scoring much more than another goal or two for the remainder of the series. And it will be a short series.

This game sucked. Watching the TSN feed and all I heard was how Washington was playing so good and it was a team committment etc etc. Who gives a ****?? It doesn't matter how they played because we played like ****. An AHL team would have beaten us.

And I don't want to hear that this team can't play because they have no talent or whatever. We were playing awesome in the 1st. We were skating hard, shooting the puck, making crisp passes, and outplaying the Caps. Why the hell did we stop doing that??

Ridiculous with this team. We've shown that we can outplay them, so why can't we sustain it for any amount of time?

Also, Dubinsky has been disapointing. Avery played awesome and this is proof that he should have been in Game 1. I'd like to see Eminger in too.

So frustrating

Bad: Team can't score

I don't know about nominating Sean "I still don't know what offside is" Avery for this game. It's pretty clear for me it was only one player worth his salt on this team this game. We severely lack talent to get anywhere, but we knew that before the playoff started.

Now it's back to the Garden, where the Rangers absolutely suck at hockey.
?

Not giving up yet but it isn't looking to good. Having to win 2 games at home in a row against the Caps seems unlikely but not an impossibility. Oh wait .. I forgot ... they can't score. Ok .. So it's just this side of impossible. But still, every time I counted this team out this year they found a way. If they lose Sunday I'll start heading for the bridge.

I'd like to see someone make an argument that "you don't need a #1 C to win a cup" or that "we can function without an offensive defenseman, we've been fine all year." Hell, we can't even win a playoff game without either of those types of players.

The two biggest holes on this teams are getting exposed big time, and the power play will continue to struggle until they are filled.

I don't remember the first one but the second one was. Green initiated the contact, he should've been penalized too.

The Good: Henrik Lundqvist.
The Bad: I am a NYR fan.
The Redden: we have no offensive talent and no help on the horizon, barring a miracle breakout by one of our prospects.

By midway through the second, we looked like we did not want to be there. Caps backed off in the 3rd and we had some zone time. Big deal. There is such a talent and effort gap between these 2 teams it is not funny. The Rangers had to work at max level to survive during the season. When the talented teams ramp up the effort, you get these 2 games.
