Avery - this guy can play
Boyle, Callahan, Sauer, Anisimov and Dubinsky - very good players need to re-sign them.
I don't want back:
Christensen - garbage
Drury - washed up
Gaborik - can't wait to trade this bum
Boogaard - useless
Wolski - no grit
Gilroy - can't waste roster spots on the like of him
McCabe - very good on the PP, but otherwise sucks and is old, rather sign or trade for a good young PP quarterback.
Frolov - no brainer
Tortorella - mental midget when it come to coaching.
Not sure:
Prospal - too slow and too old, probably the right thing to do would be to not re-sign
Fedotenko - probably better to save a spot for somebody better.
Eminger - decent 6/7 defenseman
Lose Boyle while he still has some value. IIRC he had two goals in the last 30 games. He will never reach 20 goals again. Has there ever been such a non-physical big man.
Prospal is practically the only guy on the team that can pass, but he has no wheels. Pass.
Fedotenko's supposed to be a big playoff performer. Yeah, right. Pass.
Eminger was playing way over his head earlier in the season, then he started regressing into the player that was let go by 5 teams in the past three seasons.
I'm going right down the line according to capgeek.com from our highest paid to our lowest from offense to defense then goaltending..
Gaborik - 7.5 You either cross your fingers and hope he regains form and Richards is brought on to right this scoring wingers ship, or you try and either upgrade your D with moving Gaborik ala Burns, or see if another scoring winger swap could be made..
Drury - 7.05 I dont care if this guy never loses a faceoff again you Chris Drury are going to be bought out!
Wolski - 3.8 There really is something to say about being a player that can play for a particular coach, and with this guy it might not just be the coach, but he needs to be moved on either Draft Day, or in a package deal.
Frolov - 3.0 UFA no need for a second tour
Prospal - 2.48 UFA great passionate talent but its not top two line talent anymore..I say Rangers move along..
Callahan - 2.3 Resign and Give him Captaincy!
Avery - 1.9375 Buyout a shell of former self, and would rather replace with Rupp, Konopka, Asham, or idk but there are a lot better option than Avery to sign for cheaper then 1.938 million.
Dubinsky - 1.850 Resign, plain and simple.
Zuccarello - 1.75 See how he does starting next season and whether or not he can sustain some decent consistency and strength in his game.
Boogaard - 1.625 Hopefully the rumors are true and he retires or goes over seas.
Fedotenko - 1.0 A very good player under Torts I'd see who else is available via free agency but if no better options I'd give him another 1 year deal for 4th line lw duty.
Christensen - .925 move this guy to Florida, Edmonton, Ottawa or someone who'd through a 6th for him.
Stepan - .875 Lets hope a 40+ pt rookie season turns into a 60+ pt sophmore season.
Anisimov - .822 Eat the pasta bulk up and lets see a jump in points from you too!
Prust - .800 Guys a Warrior he's not going anywhere!
Boyle - .500 Do I expect 20 goals again no but a 6'7" 4th line center who can skate and PK he's worth around 1 million or so for a few years.
Defense
No comments needed for Staalzy, Girardi, McDonagh, and Sauer all are solid D and great top 4 imo...
See Ya - Gilroy, Eminger, and McCabe..
Goaltending - Our Best Thing Going Lundqvist and Biron.
UFA's I'd Look at
Of course Richards...
Wisniewski
Ehrhoff
Eager
Rupp
Leftwing - Dubinsky
Center - Richards, Stepan, Anisimov, Boyle
Rightwing - Gaborik?, Callahan, Zuccarello, Prust
Center would be set, as would Right wing. Unless Thomas can beat out Zuccarello.
Prospects battling it out for leftwing, Hagelin, Grachev, and maybe Kreider? Fedotenko gets leftwing slot unless you think Eager or Rupp are a better fit. I personally sign Rupp over Fedotenko, he's tougher and becomes our fighter along with Prust on the 4th line.
Staal - Girardi
McDonagh - Sauer
Del Zotto/Ehrhoff - McIlrath/Wisniewski - basically I don't see both rookies on the back end but it would be possible but I think we try and bring in one of those two vets.
So after all this my wishlist is to acquire a top notch leftwing, Clowe in San Jose would be a thrill but thats just off the top of my head so who knows..and maybe rather then sign one of Ehrhoff or Wisniewski trade some of that bait for some talent, i.e Wolski, Gilroy, draft picks ect..
unless we get richards and sign parise to an offer sheet gabby isnt going anywhere. why cant the guy just be having a bad year (imo due to injury)? his stats last year mean you keep him next year. if next year is like this year i would trade him. but he gets 1 more year, especially if he can play with richards

completly agree. dont know why i wasted my time posting something different. just dont like how everybody hates gaborik, a guy cant have a bad year.
If it's any consolation, what you said about Gabby is exactly what I've been telling people all year. It's literally gotten to the point where when I get pissed\upset after a game, I come here just to see the absurd overreactions and asinine posts from people because the negativity and stupidity somehow leaves me feeling more positive about the team.

if he were to be traded, your not going to get anything for him except cap space, then what do you get? brad richards needs wingers to play with. and even if gabby isnt injured and just had a bad year on his own, we saw what he could do last year.... dont you want to see what he can do with a legitament #1 center?
So the Rangers are gonna win 4 of the next 5? Get real.
No, they're not. In fact, I actually stopped watching the team a few months ago, then after the Isles loss, then after the Thrashers loss, because I needed to "get real" and realize they weren't even making the playoffs. So I guess I'll get rid of my tickets for Sunday and plan a day at the golf course. No point in watching anymore. Seasons over.
Seriously, more than half of this board doesn't deserve a good team.

rangers need to win 16 straight to please some people.
just last year in the playoffs flyers came back on two different 3-0 leads then knocked off the incredible canadiens. 2 years ago the caps came back on us down 3-1. just look at the last day of the season for the rangers. anything can happen. season isnt over yet.

This is practically exactly what I've been saying word for word. It's no secret we need another superstar forward. So we sign Richards but get rid of Gaborik and we're right back to where we're at right now. The lack of production from Gabby this year has been frustrating, but he's allowed to have a bad year. Wanna argue that you shouldn't give that kind of money to someone with his injury history? That's fine, although the main injuries since he's been a Ranger have nothing to do with the injuries he had in Minnesota. But for the people that call him soft, disinterested, and a floater...newsflash, he played the same way last year too, only difference is he was scoring last year so no one cared. In one season he goes from savior to goat. Let's see what the guy does next year before we crucify him.
And yea, the people that say he sucks and should be traded also think we can fetch a great return for him. If he sucks, then what the hell are you gonna get back for him in a trade? Some more 2nd\3rd liners and 3rd and 4th round picks?
So we should just trade McCabe for a young PP QB just like that?

the trade Gaborik and fire Torts is comical. You are talking about a Stanley Cup winning coach who is pulling for the youth movement and a 40 goal scorer one year ago
All I do is sign Richards, RFA's
let all UFA's go so that means Prospal, Fedotenko and the obvious White and Frolov contracts.
Gilroy needs to be off this team and clear that salary, EC and Avery I really don't care
I am fine with giving Wolskii a full yr to prove himself. Eminger for cheap as the 7th Dman I am fine with

Agree on pretty much everything except Avery, he was the best player tonight. The guy can really play, he was instrumental in Stepan's hattrick and 2 of Gaborik's hattricks but it looks like the coach is too much of a moron to notice what a great setup guy Avery is.

Gaborik is not really a superstar, and when it come playoff time he is barely a star. Sure if we sign Richards we should hold on and see how Gaborik does, but if not much changes trade him.

Even when Gaborik is on top of his game, I don't feel too confident going deep in the playoffs with him for several reasons:
1. too soft, not enough grit, too easy to knock off the puck.
2. too injury prone and too much of a capspace is spent on a player who is not really a superstar.
