I went with Gilroy...but it's more for his lack of physical ability than his actual play...he's been ok, not great, not awful. But he's getting manhandled out there, and its limiting who you can put him out there against.

simple... our PP isn't doing anything as is. What's the point of McCabe, play Eminger. He's been our most physical dman at times.

You can't sit Gilroy! He's our offensive powerhouse!

Exactly. Gilroy hasn't looked bad, and he scored. Sit McCabe who has an abysmal turnover behind Hank and has done nothing for the PP.

It doesn't matter though. Eminger, McCabe, Gilroy, Wally the crotchety old man from the corner, one defensemen isn't changing the landscape offensively. (Except maybe Gilretzky.)

The whole team just needs to get on their game or this will be a sweep.

Gilroy has played well and as bad as we have been offensively, Gilroy has created some good scoring chances....McCabe looks old and slow, put Emminger in...

hasn't Gilroy been on the ice for 3 of WAS's 4 goals already?

sit eminger, and mcCabe, and bring up MDZ. he might not be a good defender, but we don't need defense, we need scoring!

All I know is that he was on both of the Capitals goals last night. McCabe hasn't looked good either. Only reason why I don't sit him over Gilroy is because he offers more on the power play.

He hasn't been a good scorer this year.

I'd put Eminger in next game. Whether it's for Gilroy or McCabe I don't think is going to make much of a difference.

Eminger's play has surpassed this boards expectations this year and he deserves to play at least one playoff game.

He's been fine though. He hasn't made many mistakes.

I'd keep the defensive-pairings the same for game 3. We've done a fairly good job in our blue-line. It's the other blue-line we need to focus on.
Agreed, Gilroy has played well so far. We scored one goal in seven periods putting Eminger in isn't what fixes this mess.

Gilroy's Game 2 was one of the worst all around games I have ever seen an NHL player have - I don't know how Torts can continue to rationalize playing him.

I wish I had the ability/technology to upload a "highlight" package of all of the things Gilroy did wrong last game; it blows my mind to see people think he's been "fine".

We'd probably end up regretting it if we sat him, but McCabe gives me heart attacks every game.

McCabe is our only hope of the PP getting a goal in this series.

I KNOW that's sad, but it is what it is.

McCabe has been their worst player so far in my opinion. I honestly have no way of justifying letting him play tomorrow.

I hardly think he's infatuated with Gilroy, he just doesn't like the mistakes Eminger is prone to because they're usually "WTF" type mistakes...like somehow ending up above the circles without any forwards backchecking in their own zone

I see alot of comments saying we need more offence so sitting McCabe isnt a good idea or that it doesnt matter who we sit on D because the forwards are not producing.

But doesnt the addition of Eminger and the sitting of one of the softy brothers give Staal/DG a chance to play less minutes thus making them more effective, and with the way Eminger playes he can tie up his man along the boards better then Gilly or McCabe can providing room for the forwards to break out through the Caps, as of late, staunch neutral zone game?

At this point, down 2-0, Eminger seems like a well calculated risk to me.

Actually i disagree i think hes been good on the PP, imo the most consistent and calming presence in terms of making a pass on the PP. It other guys i worry i.e forwards that stink the place up with their horrific play down low on the PP.

McCabe. Gilroy has added some solid offensive chances from the blueline, something no one else on this team is doing, which is pretty sad.

And either way, that play on the Chimera goal was awful. He got completely manhandled.

I know he wasn't on the ice for 3, because Staal and Girardi were on for both of their game 1 goals.

Eminger should definitely play, we need to be more physical and he can actually hit a bit. McCabe and Gilroy are about even in my book right now but Gilroy can actually skate and offensively he's not much worse so I'd sit McCabe.
