Charlotte is way too close to have NHL. The NHL made a good pick with Raleigh after they moved from Hartford.

Charlotte would be too over-extended with NHL. You have college basketball (ACC, plus Charlotte, Davidson and numerous others), the Bobcats, plus high schools, the Panthers from October to Jan, and college football, which is huge there.

Charlotte couldn't support the Bobcats, who don't draw that well except when there's promotions and/or major teams are in town, and a NHL team. Baseball would be a better fit (probably better in Raleigh or Greensboro) but you don't want to overextend a market.

I was going to start a new thread but figured there already enough on the topic.

The ECHL commissioner was in St. John's this week to meet with potential ownership group and check out Mile One Centre. The commissioner also met with city councilor Danny Breen, St. John's Sports and Entertainment, and the manager of Mile One. This is all in an article here: http://http://www.thesportspage.ca/i...011&Itemid=132

The group is travelling to Las Vegas for league meetings in June and hoping to have a team in place for 2012-13.

Interestingly, the article indicates that there is another group trying to get an AHL team for next season.

I see the ECHL retracting instead of expanding. Victoria is as good as gone, who knows about the West after that. At worst they have the same amount of members as this year. Wheeling needs to give it up already. If anybody else owned trenton that would be the case now. South Carolina has drawn dreadfully this season. Don't knpw whats up with that.
