Ok I've calmed down from last night so I can post on here without getting infractions...

Does Carlyle just tell his team to goon it up regardless of what's going on? Is that really what this man thinks about when he thinks play off hockey? Being the cheapest ****ing team in the entire league regardless of the situation? I'm glad I'm not a fan of such a trashy organization. I'd have a hard time defending my team each and every ******* night...

Moving on, SOB shot us in both feet right out of the gate, and I'm not in the least bit surprised. I thought maybe after we sneaked out of game one with a surprisingly "easy" win after all of the penalties we took he would have his head on straight for this one, but of course not. What does he do? He gives them a ****ing 5-on-3 as soon as he possibly can. Why the hell is SOB on the PK against Anaheim and Blum isn't? Blum has been the better defenseman for the past 25 games by leaps and bounds, but SOB's hotheaded ass gets to play the PK against a team that is obviously going to try to goad us into penalties? Against a team that scores at will against us on the 5-on-3? Sorry Trotz, but this is going to rank up there with other head scratchers like Klein and Hamhuis last season. SOB would be a fine PKer if he could just NOT take penalties, but he can't help himself. All he had to do last night was skate a bit harder and throw a shoulder. He really didn't even have to skate harder. The puck was coming TO HIM. Slashes are pretty much always uncalled for, but that was just brutal...

Don't even get me started on the piss-poor officiating... It's like those rich "I hate poor people and I prove it by the way I vote" pr***s paid off the officials to call the worst game of their lives

Rinne didn't look bad last night, but he wasn't god-like either. We needed a god-like Rinne, and we didn't get it. Not his fault, though.

I absolutely despise the Ducks. I didn't really hate them that much before game 1, but I didn't like them. Now I can't even with good conscience post what I wish would happen to this team... you'd all assume I'm a psycopath

Anyway, series is tied. At least we took game one in dominating fashion, and we left Anaheim with something to build on rather than rolling over. I hope we can take a 3-1 series lead so that Tootoo and Weber and crush the bodies and souls of some of these goons-on-skates (I'm looking at you Parros... I hope someone rips that silly looking 70s porn 'stache right off of your ugly face, you useless *******) Let's get 'em next time

(edit: yes this is me calm compared to last night...)

I will gladly take the loss if ryan is suspended 2 or more games.

Its the playoffs. If he gets anythinbg ryan will get one game. I'm just pleasantly surprisedthat the league is proceeding with a hearing. Will take any kind of distraction that upsets the ducks routine.

I would almost rather they don't suspend him. Teams sometimes rally after things like that.

How does a "disciplinary hearing" go? If they talk to him about it obviously he will lie and make up a reason why it happened and what do they do? Tell him to his face that they're suspending him?

yes, this is what i think.

when the league and refs let teams goon it up like this with no punishment.....it makes players less respectful of each other and causes more players to be hurt for no reason.

frankly, it makes me as a fan a little callous toward some players...... like b ryan now.
have to be truthful, if he doesn't get suspended, it won't upset me to see him hurt on sunday.....on purpose........lack of respect works all the way around.

I dunno what lie he could possibly make up...on replay it's pretty obvious that it was an intentional stomp. It's not like he was kicking for the puck and kicked Blum...it was a straight-up, black and white stomp. Can't imagine he can make up any plausible lie.

But the league hates suspending star players so I'm sure nothing will happen, especially since nobody knows who Blum is and we maddeningly continue to punish the result instead of the action, and Blum wasn't injured that we know of.

So annoying.

IMO if they don't suspend him for at least a game they're asking for things to get out of hand in this series...if the officials don't man up and police the game, then we're gonna have to start doing it ourselves.

Too bad but the outcome is not in doubt.
I too expect a victory in the series, but that doesn't mean I am satisfied with any loss. I don't expect to sweep every series, but I also realize that every loss makes a series victory that much more difficult.

And you need to go dig up some old threads if you think Wings and Sharks fans were okay with a loss to the Preds because they thought they would still win the series.

Bottom line, a playoff loss, regardless of the circumstances is the worst outcome that can happen all season and I will never come up with ways to gloss it over. We came back and made a game out of it, great, it's still a loss and a blown opportunity.

I'm wondering if the Ducks didn't take a look at the Preds v Sharks series' and take note. They know the officials are not going to do anything to Perry or Ryan, and if they can get the Preds mad and off their game then they have a chance.

Preds cannot fall into this trap, but they also can't go completely soft and get run over that way too.

Count me surprised as well, these things NEVER go the Preds way. Now they have to follow through and capitalize on a key Duck being out.

It's surprising to me how many (seemingly) neutral fans in this story are in favor of Ryan being out longer than this, such as the whole series.

I find it funny that Ryan couldn't believe he got suspended. Dude, you picked up your skate and stomped on another players foot, what did you think would happen?

I agree that a team is capable of rallying in a situation like this. But, my take on it is we're headed home tied in the series. It's gonna be a madhouse back home which SHOULD give us all kinds of momentum. I feel like the Ducks have not dominated us at any point and the bottom line is them losing Ryan greatly affects their depth and we should capitalize.

I was standing there about 10' away during his impromptu post-practice press conference and couldn't believe some of his answers. Clearly he thought he was getting away with it and didn't think it was a big deal. Sorry Bobby, you can't use your skate blade as a weapon and expect to walk free...that's just not going to happen...

Two games for Ryan seems about right. What he did was more stupid than nasty. It was more pointless than anything else. Trying to intimidate a rookie? Don't want to tickle his armpit? No wonder so many people hate the Ducks!

Welcome to the playoffs. Carlyle has won a cup so he knows that the Preds are a smaller team and that is the way he is going to have to win. It's a battle of wills. For all the haters for SOB then where would we be without him. They would be trying to beat up Weber and that would take it's toll. The series is in our hands now if we take care of home ice

This is why I went from thinking 1-2 games would suffice to wanting something in the range of 3-4 or maybe even 5 as the day wore on. He's a good hockey player, sure, but he's a kid. The guy has no doubt been THE guy for his whole life, and I have a feeling he still hasn't learned that he isn't above anyone else. He doesn't think he did anything wrong, so I feel he deserves even more time off.

Without SOB we could have a 2 game lead... and they are trying to beat up Weber. They're trying to beat up everyone. Erat lost four teeth. Blum took a skate blade to the top of his foot, though luckily he wasn't hurt. SK has been boarded and otherwise beaten up. Hornqvist is taking the exact same kind of crap he always takes. Pekka took a rack from Perry. Smithson got mugged by Parros. Sorry but I'm not on the SOB bandwagon anymore, and I don't plan on getting back on. Sure we need a player like him, but the guy is an idiot. It just sucks that he's one of the only true tough guys we have.

Whether or not Carlyle watched the Preds v Sharks series, I doubt it would change anything. The guy's teams always play like this. They open up physical, and then they end up being goons. It's what they are good at. It is absolutely correct that we cannot fall into that trap.
