For sure. A resident insider alluded to us being interested in him.

Careful, not sure if he said the Sens are interested in him, may have only been saying he likes what he's seen of him. I think he said something along the lines of, "starting to think Sheifele would be a good pick with NSH"

Any report on how Dmitry Jaskin looked from the Czechs?

Apologies. I believe what he'd said before that was "starting to look like there's interest in the big center from Barrie" (paraphrasing) So I guess that could mean anyone, and also nothing.

That's a little more clear if he said something like that. Just knowing how easily one inaccurate or unclear post can turn into common knowledge around here I had to make sure.

Wouldn't surprise me if we did have interest.

Pumped for the game this afternoon!

The Swede team is stacked with prospects I've never seen play before.

Canada beat Norway 5-0 yesterday btw. Goals by Cousins, Smith, Koekkoek, and 2 from Scheifele.

I saw Germany-Russia which was a great game. My german boys came back from a 0-3 deficit and forced overtime. This team really suprises me at this tournament. There isn´t a player who stands out (maybe Rieder a bit) but they are a great team. And we have a guy on defence called Mebus who is already taller than Chara. Looks like a man amongst boys.

On the other side there was a player that really caught my attention. Nikita Kucherov seems like a great prospect. Not the biggest and heaviest guy but heavy on skill. Kucherov leads the tournament in scoring so far. He is playing at the moment against Switzerland and already scored 2 goals and assisted on 2 after two periods. I wouldn´t mind if we take a risk on him with one of our second rounders.

He'll go in the 1st round to Washington or something.

I think the two OHL Russians might go first due to the KHL factor.

They'll both probably go ahead of Kutcherov. He's turning heads at this tournament, Washington isn't afraid...it's either get an average prospect or get a boom prospect they might have to wait 3 years for. They've got Ovechkin, they aren't scared. Kuznetsov is a prime example.

A 2012 note to pass on from a scout I've got on twitter following the 2012. Many scouts at the U18s are beginning to think Mikael Grigorenko may top the 2012 list ahead of Nail Yakupov next year. Apparently was the best player on the ice when USA and Russia faced off.

It's worth mentioning that Yakupov had 1 goal and 3 primary assists on Russia's 4 first period goals...

Corey Pronman, hockeyprospectus scout.

Quote:
Speaking of top talents, to everyone who’s raving about how Nail Yakupov could go number one at the 2012 Draft, he wasn’t even the best 2012 prospect on the ice for Russia in this game. Draft lovers if you haven’t heard of this name yet write it down and make sure you keep close tabs on center Mikhail Grigorenko going into next season. Grigo has not even turned 17 yet and he was arguably the best player on the ice between both the Russian and USA squads. His combination of puck skills, frame and most notably his vision and hockey sense are unbelievable for a May 1994 birth date. It may be an unpopular opinion to say that Grigorenko is better than Yakupov but I can assure you amongst those in Russia who have seen both it is an opinion that isn’t simply my own.

They're broadcasting it.

Aren't they?

If I go for a shower and find out it isn't on TV I'm gonna be pretty pissed.

Ya that crossed my mind. I doubt they are streaming it, you probably would have heard mention of it already.

fasthockey.com has them streamed for about 7 bucks a pop...if your jealousy overrides.

Zibanejad's a pretty bulky kid, already laid someone out.

Lined up on the left point on the SWE PP.

I broke down and was going to shell out for the game on fasthockey.com, but it's blacked out here.
