i don't see why not then. I think I saw Sid in the box with a head set on during one of their games. might have been regular season.

Seriously, if the team misses him that much then they don't stand a chance. Its not like he isn't there in the locker room and he traveled to DC with them.

The NHL granted the Islanders permission to let Doug Weight do it for the last few games of the regular season. But, that was after he was cleared to play and they decided not to let him play due to the way the season was decided at that point. Not sure if player status has anything to do with it or not.

Wasn't Fotiu on the bench during the Islanders series in 79 because he was injured? I've seen videos where he jumps off the ice in a suit after they win.

Honestly though, Cally has a broken ankle, it's probably not best for him to be standing up on crutches for 3-4 hours serving as a coach right now especially only like a week and a half after it happen.

If this team can't win because they are missing one player then they don't deserve to win.

They barely deserved to make it to the playoffs, let alone win. Missing the best player the team has is absolutely impacting their ability to play.

Go down the line and take each teams best player away and lets see how well they perform over a long stretch.

Yeah, I mean whatever would the penguins do without Crosby or heaven forbid they lost Malkin at the same time too. And could you imagine the Bruins without Marc Savard? They would be drafting 1st this offseason! How about the Kings without Kopitar, doubt they would have won game 2 the way they did. Oh yeah, and there is no way the Caps win the east during the regular season without Mike Green playing the way he has since feb.

The team and the fans should not be using cally as an excuse, would his play make a difference? More than likely. Would he make a difference behind the bench? I doubt it, like I said, he is there in the locker rooms and with them in DC. Is being behind the bench really that much of a difference? If this team is using him as a cruch (pun intended) then well they don't deserve anything. Lots of teams are missing top players, they still find ways to win.

Staal, Neal, Kunitz, Martin, Orpik, Letang, Michalek. I'd say their roster is still pretty decent.

I think that's exactly the point. The Rangers just aren't deep enough yet.

I don't think he was ever cleared and ready to play he had more medical problems when he was practicing and trying to come back.

We did that with Andreychuk once - can't remember why he was out. He didn't last long tho, he said it was so nerve wracking he went and paced up and down the tunnel instead of staying out on the bench.

I do remember them saying we had gotten permission from the league, so I guess all you have to do is ask.
