Caps switching up lines in practice, 44 and 19 have switched. Katie points out it makes Torts line matching an interesting choice. It's like BB saved up all his genius for this series.

Um dang imagine being the top D pair of the rangers having to face ovie, arnott and knuble.....doh. BB really looks to vecteying to wear out the top d pair so the 2nd and 3rd lines can score.

so yer admitting he had no genius during the regular season? sweet! looks like the Haterz win
barring injuries i dont think they need to mess with the roster - line tinkering is fine, but leave the same bodies in there... although Sturm has not produced he has been solid and make some good smart plays.
incidentally, looking over the team's stat sheet its pretty amazing that Backstrom is without a point - and averaging 24 minutes/game. guy has been so good in all 3 zones and getting him away from Stall & Giraldo may give him more chances to score.
gotta say i am loving the ice time breakdown of this series so far, moreso in game 2... on the flip side, Stale & Gramaldi are averaging 28+ / game... thats nutz

Calling it genius before it works?
I like the idea, though. The top 2 lines aren't getting many chances at ES.
Lost in some of our more noteworthy playoff underachievers has been Brooks Laich. I've always thought when the compete level notches up in the playoffs it's taken away the energy advantage he enjoys during the regular season and made him less effective.
I must say that was the best playoff performance I can remember him having.
Couple that with the fact that Green seems to be playing within himself and has been particularly good, and there's the two biggest culprits imo from seasons past starting off strong.

Sweet Jesus. Is that the return of the 700lb line?
I thought I saw Arnott skating with OV last night. Not sure if that was overlap or PP, but I did think it was an intriguing idea.
On a side note, anyone else notice how often Arnott wins board battles? I think he might be the best player on the team at that. The guy has so many veteran moves. I'm glad to see our guys are absorbing his knowledge.

a 2-0 lead is nice, but dont jump on everything bruce does...you can give him credit after the rangers are done(without a game7)
right now its only the usual bruce... joggling lines left and right.

I'd call that a mighty good sign.
He's had two great games. He figured in on both GWG's so far. He was the player that pressured Staal's turn over in game one and he got the 2ndary on Chim's goal. His dot work is awesome too.

Not sure how Arnott and Ovechkin weren't put together earlier. They seem to have such a good chemistry off the ice, one assumes that would translate to the ice.

8.44.22 - The A-Okay line.
Well, Arnott and Semin have worked great together, and Nicky and Ovi have for years now, so I think that's why that happened. Plus, Ovi plays so many minutes, you're talking about Arnie being out there more, and Nicky out there less.
just with shift overlap we'll see some of that combo - of course we dont want want arnott to play 20+ minutes so i would imagine its just a wrinkle we'll see at times tonite.
then again, BB is a mad scientist with line juggling so who really knows?
