Every fan base has their share.

Some more than others (canucks). Sharks fans aren't Canucks fans.

Wow!!! ABSOLUTELY F-in WOW.

Zad and I had an absolute blast. From chatting with Luc to drinking all over town and from verbally blasting the downcast sharkie fans to getting the Go KINGS GO chant going in Owen Nolan's nearby bar, the Britannia Arms, after the game despite the presence of 50-75 nearly suicidal Shark fans.

Of course we got taunted, and we taunted back. No one got too nasty, but maybe thats because extreme volume does wonders when dissuading people from harassing you. The worst that happened was some low-life threw a wadded up napkin at one of the fans we got together with in their very nice club section after the game. The lowlife challenged one of the guys to come outside but noticeably didnt stop to press the point as there were about 6 of us by then.

Their arena is small inside, and that accounts for the massive noise their fans make. They certainly are no more rabid than us Kings fans, and our boys gave them little room for continued taunts after GOAL 3. MAN THAT WAS AWESOME

The best was a young drunken shark fan with an inadequate knowledge of hockey history who believed his team had gotten out of the Western Conference Finals more times than we had. His friend looked embarrassed. But after some friendly discussion the poor lad let his inebriation get the better of him and threatened to BLOW UP Zad's Blog!!!! We both a good laugh. I actually have a picture of the guy "surrendering" shortly before he bolted with the rest of the crowd well before the final whistle

Classic comment of the night from a clueless Shark fan: What the hell is up with the Purple jersey?

PS: did any of you see that stupid mascot in bright green spandex? If only they had let me bring that spear gun inside. Oh well, Maybe next time

Im sure Zad, the prolific writer that he is, will have a far more detailed write up on the site: http://lakingsnews.com/

Game Three here we come.

Go KINGS GO!

The experience nearly rivaled the game. Their fans are intense but our (DIEHARD and my) intensity neutralized theirs and as they gave it, they also took it. There was one potential for a fight but the dude walked away quickly and didn't direct any b.s. at us, but rather another Kings' fan around us. He may have understood that to fight him meant he and his friends take on all of us.

Made some new friends among rivals. Their fan base is passionate, I dug them. And those boos that I hope you heard in the third period, yeah, those were directed at US screaming GO KINGS GO. I hope that (at least the boos) came across on TV because at one point it was a good portion of the arena.

...and beer...lots of beer.

I will be doing a write up on the entire experience on our site from meeting and chatting with Luc on departure and then again landing and sharing a cab to the hotel together, to the pre-game drinking, to the perpetual vocal and mental intensity that was the game and the post game celebrations at Britannia, which is Owen Nolan's club.

Kings fans were tough to find last night (Sat).

Those who, sitting in 206 were fine.

When you are the road team and your team scores...stand for 10 seconds. Clap. Sit down and shut up.

When you are up by more than two on the road and you score again...shut up.

Simple.

Anyone who gets harassed, no matter what barn you are in, you deserve a little verbal heckling, but nothing more than that.

Actually, I totally agree with this. I know how much I hate it when opposing fans come into Staples and raucously celebrate goals, turn and taunt the fans around them or start chants.

You're not bitter much, right? "sit down and shut up?" Uh, er um, NO, I THINK NOT.
Not likely thats going to happen with me in ANY BARN.

But I will say, when you're a home team fan and your team doesnt show up, or just gets SHUTDOWN like a drunk trying to enter Tiffany's, maybe you should just bow your head in shame and take what you got coming. Or maybe you could boo your team off the ice as many of your fans did at the end of the second period. Don't worry. I get it, after all these years of choking, both your team and fan base are a bit fragile. I guess when your star is a MINUS 23 in his careers in playoff games, things like ought to be expected.

No we didnt sit down and shut up. Quite the opposite in fact. We shouted almost all game long. From the anthem to the end. We stood for the last minute and chanted Go KINGS GO! We asked "Dumbo" Joe, when he was close to the glass, what the doctor said about his throat problem? We questioned out loud why your mascot was wearing green spandex? (Vancouver envy??) We werent backing off any more than the little sharkie fans would have if the score had been the other way around.

Verbal heckling, we expected it, got some and gave more, and the best part of it was our boys gave us the best comeback possible: SCOREBOARD.

Overall, I like your over sized Gymnasium of a barn. I had hoped for a larger turnout of more visible Kings fans, (thats why I wore my purple retro jersey), but those of us there were as loud as could be and I think we all enjoyed ourselves.

Our barn, like our city is quite a bit larger than yours, and we will be louder too.

If i have to bring a bullhorn, you will hear it echo on your televisions, so hide your children ahead of time: KILL THE SHA-ARKS, KILL THE SHA-ARKS, KILL THE SHA-ARKS.

Tuesday night cant come fast enough

Go KINGS GO

REALLY. Shut up? We went expecting to get heckled, and we were good natured about what we got and we dished out in kind.

For those Sharks fans who have attended in the recent past often leanoing over the rail of the boxes above to yell down at us at Staples, they are greeted with a now familiar refrain from our section:

JUMP!

JUMP!

JUMP!

JUMP!

dont get me wrong. i was loud and obnoxious to them but only because the sharks got worked. i dont apperciate getting nailed with a full and i mean a FULL tub of popcorn. the dude who threw it was like 300lbs too? i really didn't get that part of it. so i bombed him and his friends with a full beer. if i get hit with something and your laughing, you better believe im snatching your beer and throwing it.

i wore my no show joe t shirt and that went over pretty well too.

Most people have little problem locating me by sound at Staples, and I make no secret of where I sit: section 214 row 9 on the aisle. Been there since the place opened.

I start during the anthem, same as I always do, with a full volume blast of "LETS GO KINGS!!!" and I rarely stop before the game ends, voice permitting. (I could expect and accept nothing less from myself at the guppy Tank.) I have at times yelled so much that my voice strains and falters and has even cracked once or twice, which got alot of people laughing)

For those poor souls who occasionally are given seats from the season ticket holders directly in front of me, I may feel a slight bit of remorse, (which dissapears almost immediately) when I see their shock and the look of abject horror on their faces as they turn to see the loud mouthed crazy right behind them that just jolted into the awareness that watching hockey games from my section is not for the faint hearted or those with overly sensitive ears, or similar natures. It is to be experienced and reveled in, not simply watched in passive silence or meek cheering.

Its KINGS hockey fa Crisssakes!!! GET ON YOUR FEET AND GET LOUD!

If its sweet and nice you want, go to the Opera or get tickets to see the Indigo Girls.

Go KINGS GO!

Go KINGS GO!

Go KINGS GO!

Go KINGS GO!

Go KINGS GO!

Lol! You have a 15-17k sharks fans vs what.. A few hundred Kings fans, if that? I would think it is fairly easy to drown out those fans so you don't have to hear them. Anybody who pays for a ticket can say whatever they want as long as they aren't breaking the arena rules. I hate it when other team's fans invade Staples but I get mad because so many Kings fans sit on their hands and don't say anything and because the tickets to the games are so abundant that they are readily available for other teams fans to get them. Then there is the beauty of others teams fans coming to see their team lose which is priceless. I recall at Kings / Red Wings game this season that the Kings won in OT. Yeah the Red Wings fans will try and talk back but if you just yell louder they'll look befuddled and walk away or sit down.

So have Zad and Diehard inspired anyone to go up for game 5? I'm 90% sure I'll be going up.
