Mtl has offered a 2 year deal to UND goalie Aaron Dell. Had an remarkable year with the Sioux. Another successful DMSG goalie. See you soon.

Right on. I'd rather see the Habs pursue undrafted free agent goalies than use draft picks on that position.

Hopefully he signs and can become a solid replacement for Desjardins who should not have been traded. Doesn't look like the whole Ramo thing will work out.

A goalie who was home schooled. You expect him not to be socially awkward?

I don't believe an offer has been made by Mtl.

What an odd fellow. Welcome to pro hockey I suppose. Any ideas where the organization is going to plug him?

I believe there is interest from the Habs, but I don't think he'll be coming out this year. (I heard this from someone close to Dell). He's probably at least a year away. To put it in perspective, prior to this year he played 5 games. For all we know, he could be a "one hit wonder" if you will. I don't think it'd be smart to sign him after one good year. He played behind a really good UND defense core, so he didn't always see a ton of shots, which is why he didn't get much respect in some college hockey circles. UND's d-core won't be as good next year, so it'd be smart to keep tabs and see how he does. Just my 2 cents.

Tweaked the title a bit. With Kristo and Cichy on the team I'm sure the Habs scouts have seen quite a bit of Dell so it wouldn't be too surprising if they are indeed interested.

Desjardins wasn't a big loss at all. He lost the starter job in Hamilton last year and he didn't play well enough this year to get it with Norfolk. He probably wouldn't even have a place in Hamilton right now.

The guy isn't NHL material.

So we'll have a Dell and a Mac for a test drive at Hamilton next year?

Any truth to the rumor that the Canadiens offered Aaron Dell of the Fighting Sioux a 2 year deal? He was just a sophomore this year.

Well I know a few people whom were home schooled by their parents, and maybe 1 of the 8 I know is socially awkward.

he's an undergog. He started second to Curtis Sanford, the NHL veteran, and he beat him out in the end.

This year, it seems obvious that Tampa sees Tokarski as the goalie of the future. Desjardin's stats are superior to Tokarski's (esp. the win-loss ratio). But still, it's Tokarski who got the majority of the starts. You play the goalie of the future in these situations. Not the 25 yo with 2 NHL games under his belt.

Still, Desjardin has been winning everywhere and IMO he deserves a chance

He wouldn't have gotten a chance here with Price starting 70 games.

It's the other way around Desjardins had the #1 job for a bit but sanford played a ton at the end.

Why because he played a few games and got some wins? I liked the guy but he is an AHLer and with Price here he wasn't going to play and Price needs a veteran backup not a young player like him. If he was that great Tampa wouldn't have traded for Roloson

As for Dell, I never saw him play but I really don't mind these signings and like someone else said it's better this way and keep our draft picks for forwards and Defencemans

I still laughed at some in the media or on this board saying they traded Desjardins because they didn't want him coming in and taking Price's job...hor ludicrous does that sound right now?(not taht it actually made sense at the time...).

Definition of introvert practically. A goalie who was home schooled.

Let's just say I doubt the whole home schooling community isn't attending his games

About 12.5 percent. What would you say is the average percentage of "socially awkward" kids were in your high school?

More news on this rumour, would be nice.

Exactly. Price is going to be our starter for the foreseeable future, so there's no point in drafting goalies. We need ones that can be integrated quickly into Hamilton, and that's about it. If they're good enough to back up Price all the better, but it's not a position we really need to be building up. I'd be curious how many goalies the Devils drafted after Brodeur became a full-fledged star in the league. I'm guessing not many, if any.

Actually they have some notable names, both high picks and guys who became pros:

Chris Mason, Scott Clemenson, JF Damphousse (1st round), Ari Ahonen (1st round), Jeff Frazee (2nd round). I remember Ahonen being highly touted, and JF Damphousse busting.

They drafted other goaltenders as well, about once every two drafts. They really seem to be employing BPA. If the Habs have a chance to draft another Carey Price, why not? Imagine how much Price is worth on the market.
