Or someone who watched the game might come to the conclusion that he wasn't challenged all night and the Sabres played a pitch-perfect defensive game.

But I'm just trolling.

The Good:
-Gragnani is a beast. He's played fearless, elite-level hockey out there in these first three playoff games.
-I thought Stafford played really well
-Gerbe is like the Sabres version of Rudy with actual talent. How do the other players on the team not want to bust their ass after watching this guy skate?
-Gaustad was hitting everything that moved and generating chances as well
-Grier bringing it physically
-Niedermayer continued his run of good play
-The PK

The Bad:
-The PP may have gotten a goal, but they get a bag from me after that abortion of a 5-on-3 PP.
-The breakdowns on goals #2 and #3. Butler, Montador, and McCormick were responsible for those Philly goals.
-The **** luck on goal #1. Can't believe the puck deflected in off Weber's stick.
-Myers needs to be better *broken-record*

The Ugly:
-Not putting Gragnani out on the 5-on-3 deserves this big time. The guy was moving and creating at will out there and you put Tim ****ing Connolly and Pominville on the point?
-Where's the offense from the top 6? Connolly hasn't had a goal in 26 playoff games now.
-Pat Kaleta's night. Took a bad penalty that led to a goal and then proceeded to re-injure himself drawing a penalty. At least the Sabres capitalized on that PP chance.
-The fans in attendance. The arena was pretty dead for a playoff game. Also, the people who left with around three minutes left should be ****ing ashamed.

Good:
The arena was definitively NOT dead. After the Sabres first goal that place was as loud as I've ever heard it. And I went to every playoff game in 06 and 07. The fans were also doing random "Lets go Buffalo" chants during down points in the game during the first and second period to try to rally the team.

Bad:
I can't comment on the third period because I had to leave, the 2 year old was just not having it any more.

Ugly:
The people sitting in my seats won Grier's sweater in the "Shirts off our backs" giveaway...that day I was on a trip to Boston for work and couldn't go to the game.

As to the game itself, I think there's something to be said for Philly just being the better team. They have about twice as many talented forwards as we do. It makes a difference. I'd like to see Buffalo at least scratch and claw a win in front of the home fans in game 4.

Yeah, I'm pretty sure the way the mics are positioned at the arena makes it sound quieter than it is.

On TV, it went from dead silent to loud "let's go buffalo" in about 2 seconds. I don't think I've ever heard a real crowd change that quickly for no reason.

Funnily enough, trolling is exactly what you're doing now, Brooklyn.

On-topic, I hope to see a call-up for Ennis. He showed some spark late in game but I can't help feeling that Ellis would help the team more.

Of course Lindy would put him back with Vanek, and move Nieds - the guy who's actually skating hard - back to the 4th.

I was expecting a lot better effort and intensity from these guys. I can accept losing 4 games straight if my team gives its all and leaves it all out on the ice.

No one can say Buffalo did that tonight. 1 or 2 players came to play a full 60. The rest - whether injured or sick - did not take it to the next level.

And Philly did.

They can still take the series. It's not the end of the world ...... But you can see it from here...

Gnight folks

Interestingly, the only guys who didn't get extra shifts in place of Kaleta were the "first line". Boyes, Stafford, and McCormick all got RW time but not anyone else. They were not good enough. Period.

Did you sell the tickets on ebay? That's really unfortunate. You should get that jersey since the people who won it aren't even ST holders.

Another ugly: See how better Boston suddenly looks with Chara back?

Yeah. If we can't be the Flyers without Pronger, it's not going to get any easier once he returns.

I sold them on stubhub through the Sabres website actually...that's how I sell most of my tickets.

I should email them or something.

I wonder how this game turns out if Goose scores that bunny in the 1st. He has to finish that.

It's 2-1. Not time to hit the panic button yet.

Flyers played better, and they are preventing the Sabres from playing the game they want to play.

Just got back from the game. The first goal against us sapped the life out of the crowd.

At least this gives Pegula a chance to see first hand what about this team works in the playoffs and what doesn't.

Would like to see Ellis in for McCormick next game. Cody has had some gaffes in the first three games. I'd prefer Ellis' safe, puck possession style to McCormick's aggressive, but error prone play.

Gerbe-Connolly-Stafford
Vanek-Goose-Mancari
Ennis-Niedermayer-Pominville
Grier-Ellis-Boyes

G:

Good effort by the team. Can't fault that.

B:

Lindy Ruff sending Tyler Ennis out on the 5 on 3 when he has 1 goal and 1 assist in his last 11 games and keeping Gerbe on the bench during that 2 man advantage.

U:

Defensive zone turnovers.

The down side is, how does he deal with "his" guys not being good enough? Does he defend them or does he boot them to the curb?
