In the playoffs, we got to help the team out much like how a fight can boost a teams spirit and moral, a rousing Let's Go Rangers chant out of nowhere can similarly get the blood pumping. Sure sometimes they would just randomly start, but when the team is down or just playing sluggish, it can be an effective wake up call.

Also, just because all the Caps fans are talking instead of watching the game doesn't mean being louder is better
Yea this doesn't happen enough at the Garden and is a reason why I respect Habs fans, even while despising their existence.

I just watched the post skate comments today from the Caps and Jesus Christ do they cry. The whole couple of minutes is Boudreau and different Caps complaining about non calls and how they're taking head shots. Boudreau brings up the Torres stuff but there's a reason why this alleged Green thing isn't brought up, BECAUSE IT'S A CLEAN PLAY. If it wasn't, fans of teams not named the Capitals would be complaining about it too. This team cries so much it's sickening. And this is from a guy who actually likes watching the Caps as a team play.

Not a cheeseburger... doughnuts.

Or better yet...the Haagen Dazs logo.

I was at the Rangers v. Wild 3-1 L and it was so quiet. I know it's the Wild but still it's a game down the stretch. About 3 weeks later I was at the Rangers v. Habs 6-3 W and it was the loudest and best atmosphere I've been too. Even better than last years last home game vs Philly and the last game vs the Devils. It helps that there was about 2,000 Habs fans to compete with but the Garden was rocking. Anyone who was at that game would probably tell you it was playoff like atmosphere. Sauer even said in an interview that the crowd was tremendous and really helped. Even asked that we be into a game that much every game.

It seems like it is getting mentioned everywhere. I have a bunch of beach balls that I am going to bring and write "Boudreau" on them

I wonder how the grown men on his team view his complaining.
He looked a lot like he did in the HBO special (where the Rangers whipped their azz 7-0). A man not really in control.

There seriously needs to be an organized chant and signs for Wednesday. I like hanging cheeseburgers behind the caps bench ont he glass or pics of him photoshopped on joba the hut. And chants throughout knocking him and all those cry babies. I will take ovi over cindy anyday, but hes been leaving his feet way more than anybody and crosschecked feds after the whistle sunday, i drew the line there.

The only way this takes off is if one of the local papers plastered this on one of the front or back pages. Then everyone would be made aware of it and then you would see a response in the building. Too few people read these boards and even fewer will attend the game Wednesday. If the Ranger PR department wanted to go with it they could show the quote before the game on Gardenvision, then everybody would riot.

You could not be more wrong.

The Caps have the worst "fans" in the NHL, by a mile.
First, they NEVER supported the team when I was growing up, ever.
The notion that Caps "fans" were just holding out over mismanagement is a lie.

The Caps made the playoffs for over 20 years in a row.
They had star players like Bondra/Langway/Kolzig.
They had a very good team in the 80s, a consistent playoff team in the 90s, they made the cup, and then they got Jagr.

Guess what?
It was MSG SOUTH. They NEVER drew, unless they played a New York or Pittsburgh team.

In 2003, the Caps made the playoffs. It was game 6, and they drew 14,000 people.
They had 4,000 empty seats in an elimination game, their owner cried, literally in tears, the next day upset at how little people cared in the area on the sport.

They aren't Mets fans. They don't care. They never did. This is a completely bandwagon fanbase.

Heck, I went to a game in December of 2007 against the Rangers and they had 10,000 people!
This was year three of Ovechkin, they did not care!!!

The only time and way Caps "fans" will get supportive is when they have a contender with a super star, not just a star. They are bandwagon.
In 2007 I went with my brother in law and friend to see the Sharks in DC. You wanna talk about empty? It was maybe 12,000 people and there were a ton, and I mean a ton of Sharks fans. It kind of had a split atmosphere, and we sat front row behind the Sharks bench.

regardless of what his MO was, it's pretty dumb to give the home fans any more energy than they'll already have going into a must win game 4. There wasn't any good that could come out of his comments for the caps, other than MAYBE putting the spotlight on him and not on how bad Ovechkin was in his own zone Sunday (as Sportscenter depicted)

bruce is hearing the sound of his pink slip approaching if his team fails (again) in the post season

Its simply the guy venting in the wrong way at the wrong time

Were I going to the game I would make MORE noise than usual. Way to motivate the fans bruce... good job

this is chalkboard material and NY playing the high ground shows the class of the organization, just like when that POS Matt Cooke took a run at the head of McDonaugh who said that he didn't believe cooke was trying to injure him.

Caps were 5th in the league in attendance in 1990.
Caps were 8th in the league in attendance in 1991.
Caps were 8th in the league in attendance in 1992.
Caps were 11th in the league in attendance in 1993.

Caps were 21st in the league in attendance in 2001.
Caps were 13th in the league in attendance in 2002.

The Bruins, Blackhawks, Blues etc are all teams who have die-hard fanbases who didnt go to games even with the team playing halfway decent.

I was 100 pct correct. The Caps already had an established loyal fan base. Look at the stands nowadays. It's a mostly over 40 or 50 crowd. I will bet the farm that those same people were going to games in landover in the 80s and 90s.

You cant judge a fan base by going to 5 or 10 games. Ask the people who actually covered the sport and they will tell you the Caps/Rangers games of the 1980s and early 1990s were almost full of Caps fans. I really dont know where you got your information from.
