I have Seabrook ahead of PK. He's going to be 29 years old and most likely still paired with Keith. Why would you break them up?
Anyways, I did my own team and was going to post it but did a search first to see if anyone else had, this was the first to come up. Yes I am a Leaf fan...yes I chose Schenn over PK as the 7th Dman but I did pick him as a sub if that means anything.
I've included their ages as well. You'll notice that there are a couple of guys that are 21/22 but will have 3.5 years in the league by the time we have to go into soulless Russia.

Duchene makes this team before jordan staal does. especialy in 3 years, that kid is something else
While I agree, Duchene is the better player I can see them taking Staal over Duchene to form a shut-down line with Bergeron and Richards. If they plan on rolling four scouring lines then definitely Duchene but I see this line as playing roles. My guess for lines using the selected players would be:
Nash-Crosby-Stamkos
E.Staal-Getzlaf-Perry
Giroux-Toews-Hall
Bergeron-J.Staal- Richards
Carter
I'm assuming they'd use the 'fourth' line to match other teams top lines then roll the other three. In any case, I think this is the reasoning behind J. Staal.

I don't think that it's homer. There are already puck moving D-men on my roster and there will be a need for a stay at home guy like Schenn. The only reason that Subban is getting the minutes he is is because the Hab's D is paper thin.
As far as the Price comment, I'll agree that IF Price goes deep in the playoffs, maybe he'll get the starting position. But you know how Hockey Canada can be at times with goaltending. They tend to start with a veteran guy first then make the switch at some point down the line.
I give full marks to the Habs management for opting for Price over Halak. He will be Canada's goalkeep in '18.
Bergeron? I don't think so. He shouldn't have been on the last team. Crosby probably got him on there because of their WJC chemistry. I think I'd go with Heatley. One game elimination - you need snipers. He'll still be 32-33 yrs old.
Schenn is a completely different type of defenseman than Subban. I think they'd take PK's skating and offense and two-way play over Schenn though. Maybe both will make it. That lineup is missing a bit of a physical stay-at-home element. Not much balance in those picks, but that's what you get when it's a draft and not crafted as a team.

the thing is that I dont think they'll have that need. Keith, Seabrook, Doughty, Weber will all be great two-way defenseman. Subban will *I think* be a very good 2-way defenseman. If you have something like 5-6 good 2-way defenseman, you dont need a stay at home guy.
But that D-Squad looks so freaking good haha, I cant wait!!
I don't see anyway Patrice begeron makes this team, he shoudln't of been on the last team he was only picked cause they could use him on the 4th line but if anyone got hurt they could move him up. Someone else will fill that role in 3 years time, Also Jordan Staal is insanely overrated by everyone working at tsn, There will be better options then him, and I really don't see MA Fleaury making the team unless Lunongo is crap by then. There is no way in hell Lucic makes this team he can't skate
there are so many other guys we tend to forget. And 3 years is very far away in terms of development.
Guys like Lucic, Duchene, Tavares, Seguin, Eberle could become as good or better than guys already mentioned here. And there could always be some "out-of-nowehere" guys, a bit like Perry who I think nobody would have put on the list 3 years ago... another example is a guy like Ryan Kesler who I would love on any team (is he Canadian?) -- and injuries could always happen.
And we tend to forget guys that are still young and that take more times to develop. A guy like Phaneuf could re-become a favorite in 3 years. he had a good second half, this year, and he has been praised as a leader this year.

Lol at Lucic. And I'm being a homer Boston basher. The guy just is not that good. This is team Canada. Claude Giroux should be in the place or E. Kane.
Also I'm not too sure about Keith. Didn't have the best year and has not looked good in the playoffs. Obviously he has a few years to pick up the pace. I just hope he isn't a one hit wonder because he is a class act.
Bergeron was HORRIBLE in Vancouver. Imagine having Stamkos there instead of him. He was there to win faceoffs and be a defensive specialist, and every time he was out there his line was hemmed in the defensive zone. The guy was brutal. That whole playing with Crosby thing didn't work out either.

Bergeron was HURT during the olympics, suffered a pulled or torn groin in an early game, was used sparringly, but to win face off in crucial times, and he DId win them
but are you watching him out there vs us in this series? the kids a MONSTER, a hell of a player defensivly and decimating us in the face off circle and has 1 G 1 A in 3 games, ...lets please not forget the chemistry he has with crosby, i would think in 3 years they may still look to add him to the team, lets not kid ourselves here hes a hell of a player...
