When asked by reporters as to how he was feeling, Crosby replied "You know we just got to get to our game, get pucks deep against these guys, go out 110%. Conklin has played great for us, were just gonna go out there and try and scratch out a W. Army's great, he plays that North-South game."

From a report:

Quote:
When asked about his injury status, Crosby was unsure.

"I don't know what it is," Crosby said. "I tried to check the injury report thread on HFBoards, but it got flooded with people talking about how stupid I am."

Matt Cooke could not be reached for comment. Cooke is suspended for elbowing Rangers defenseman Ryan McDonough and is expected to somehow be responsible for Crosby's concussion.

I managed to run into Sid again later tonight. He was riding one of those bicycles built for two that tourists like to rent and seemed to be having a whale of a time. Once we started talking he told me that to help pass the time, he's been uploading some home videos on youtube. Once he heard that I was a poster on hfboards, he told me that I should post his promo vid for all of the guys on the board:

This isn't a case of "oh throw a knee brace on him and he can suck it up and play", different injury.

Your line of thinking seems to be- Crosby's fine but the Pens are giving him more time than he needs. That's not the case, as Crosby hasn't taken contact and isn't really all that close to seeming that far.

Plus, it would be foolish to have a 100% healthy and healed up player that you're not going to use until the team's back is against the wall. If that was the case, it'd be better to just shut him down if you're worried about playing him this year.

Crosby will, and should play when he is 100%. Whether the Pens are up 3-1 in a series or down 1-3...Or, sadly, opening night next year.
THIS.

Unconfirmed reports that he's "excited about the opportunity to play with two great veterans in Mark Recchi and John LeClair."

Oh boy, it's worse than I thought.

Geno's lion just posted this on his blog:

I guess he has big paws - but it was translated to mean that Crosby has been cleared for contact.

Still standing by my game five prediction, though feeling it a lot less strongly. It will give him until Saturday, so four more days to get ready. May be more hoping than predicting at this point though.

Starting goalie will take more frequent rest days in the playoffs since they will see all of the games.

Guys, it's worse than we thought.

Quote:
Penguins center Sidney Crosby began participating in game-day skates nearly three weeks ago -- at the St. Pete Times Forum when the Penguins had a regular-season visit -- but did not go on the ice for the one Monday at that arena.

He did shoot baskets with teammates Matt Cooke and Eric Tangradi before his teammates practiced and also went through an off-ice workout.

I'm with you entirely. Hoping for a game 5 return, but very unlikely at this point. :

I always thought he could compete with the likes of Lebron James.

Should we read into this...

"11:47 AM:
Sidney Crosby and the Penguins are taking the ice for their practice at St. Pete Times Forum in Tampa. Fleury, Adams and Neal are all absent from the skate."

I'm assuming Fleury and Adams are maintenance days. Adams turns 34 next week and his body has got to be banged up already.

Neal? That one raises an eyebrow.

I'm thinking his hand/wrist is bothering him more than people know. He only played about 12 and a half minutes last night, couldn't seem to shoot properly, and the CBC broadcast mentioned he could barely even grip his stick.

Perhaps they just want him to rest his hand/wrist until the next game?

Last night on the CBC feed, they mentioned something about Neal's hand being injured and that's why he seemed to have trouble shooting/handling the puck. Not sure if it is true though.

James and Kunitz both looked like they were laboring last night to me. Neal is probably getting extra rest to try and heal up whatever was wrong prior the the playoffs starting.

Wait, how is the bolded part any different than a non-injured Neal?
