Leipold disappointed with Wild

Don't think this has been posted yet ... and some may not want another Hatin' on Leipold thread here in the Preds forum ... but maybe just an example of getting back from life what you give:

http://sports.espn.go.com/nhl/news/story?id=6363681

Quote:
ST. PAUL, Minn. -- Craig Leipold leaned back in his office chair and shook his head with a grimaced look, the frustration of missing the playoffs for a third straight year still fresh for the Minnesota Wild owner some four days after the season.

Aw poor guy. He had a perfectly good team here in Nashville. It's just that NO ONE here likes hockey

He might find life more satisfying if he stops pretending to be a franchise owner, and starts acting like the stay-at-home husband of a rich woman that he is

How you can lose money and season ticket holders in a hockey market..... insert Craig Leipold. Hate it for the Wild fans, they deserve better.

Leipold should have bought the Preds instead!

Does anyone think he will buy Detroit or San Jose next? Either one would help out the Preds in future seasons/playoffs.

Minnesota had 409 consecutive sellouts?

Uh, sure. Something tells me someone's been cooking the attendance numbers in Minnesota.

I'm glad he's gone. Just think how much worse of a wreck the Preds would be after several years more of that albatross. Instead we've purged his poison and come out stronger on the other side.

Sucks for the Wild, though.

It's really the whole organization. Fletcher is an awful GM as well.

Why would you think the numbers are wrong? We've gotten about 20-25 Wild games here for a few years now and the place has always been sold out up until this year.

Will always be grateful for him bringing hockey to Nashville and making sure the franchise stayed in local ownership's hand. The problem is he had no rapport with Nashville businesses, complained publicly that not enough people cared, abd just thought he could sell the hockey instead of the experience like the new ownership has. Then when things didn't go great blamed everyone but himself.

Let's be honest, the franchise is 1000X healthier since he's been gone. So once again Craig, Thanks, but good riddance.

Ill give him credit for bringing the team to life but no credit for selling to the locals. He would have sold the team to balls without an eyeblink if he could have. The only reason for the local buyers was they were sure to get approved and balls or any other ouitsider would have to be vettted.

There are starters and closers. The starters are the crazy wild eyed dreamers. The closers are the ones who make the dreams come true. The American Revolution was started by a bunch of merchant dreamers. George Washington and the founding fathers were the finishers.

Leipold to his credit is a starter who started the dream of Predators hockey. it's the current ownership who's closing the deal.

Craig, nothing wrong with looking in the mirror and realizing your skills. it's wrong when you get in your own way of those dreams.

Wild fans seem to be happy with Leipold. More power to them, I guess. If I were them I'd be worried about Leipold losing money. He's all but admitted to having lost money the past two seasons (when he says he won't say much they've lost it's a pretty good indicator). We all know what he did the last time he started losing money with a hockey team...

sure, but there's little chance of the Wild getting moved. I realize the Stars did once, but we've got several struggling franchises, they sure aren't gonna' be moving a healthy one that has regular sell-outs. Liarpold might sell but I don't think the Stars fans have to worry bout losing their team.

I think Craig needs to go to whoever counseled him to hire Poile and ask for some guidance on hiring a new GM and then get outta' the way and let the guy do his job.

I was thinking more along the lines of him bailing on the team like the last guy did. I doubt Minnesota gets moved again

well not to rehash an old thread but the main point of interest in that thread was that leipolds wife(who everyone knows actually controls the pursestrings of craigs fortune) ended up having to step in for the disgraced bro-in-law. what never got around to being discussed was whether the family's finances would end up being in any danger from lawsuits which is where i had intended to go with that thread but never got there....

anyway... back to Craig bashing!!!

Some people get what they deserve. He had a good thing here and ruined it. Remember His message to the fans "I would never sell to anyone that wants to move the team". What the hell was Baldsilly wanting to do with the Predators Craig? He had no choice but to sell to local ownership Baldy jumped the gun with his season ticket drive and left egg on Liarpold's face. Good riddance one less Western Conference foe to worry about.
