Julien compares Gomez/Kelly interference to MaxPac incident (seriously)

Quote:
In the first period of Monday night’s 4-2 win over the Canadiens at the Bell Centre, Rich Peverley missed with a shot on a 3-on-1 opportunity. While Peverley wasn’t able to hit the net, his linemate in Chris Kelly was thanks to a shove from Scott Gomez that sent him into Carey Price‘s goal.

Gomez was given a minor for interference on the play, and while it may have looked worse than it was, Claude Julien had an interesting comparison in addressing the perception of it.

“Well, he got a penalty for interference. I would say, to be honest with you, it’s a little bit of the Zdeno Chara hit on [Max] Pacioretty,” Julien said. “It’s a hit that turned out badly. I think in Kelly’s case, it was interference [on Gomez], but I don’t think he meant to push him in the net or [have him] go head-first into the post.”

I guess Gomez had no idea Kelly was on the ice either, or that he was near the net.

Kelly jumped or dove.

Wait Gomez didn't even know who it was.

Strong hockey play.

Yes, that's it. Strong defensive play.

Aside from the fact that Gomez barely touched him, WOW, guilty conscience much?

What an asinine thing to say. Absolutely no need to even go near that. Please crush these tools boys.

I see, so he's saying it's a strong hockey play? Or is he trying to get the Habs off their game since the last time the Bruins brought up Pacioretty before a game they lost 7-0. Well done Julien.

He's also saying Gomez has no idea there's a post on a net, just like Chara was completely unaware of the partition.

Boston Bruins have a fine career in bulletin board material writing waiting for them if the hockey thing doesn't work out.

No kidding. The incident just keeps going and going, and going....and it ain't the Habs that keep bringing it up.

As someone said ....by next year the Bruins will be saying that it was Pacioretty's fault for not avoiding the hit.

It was the turnbuck--oh I mean goal post that is to blame... What game was Julien watching? Did Dr. Recchi take a look at Kelly to see if his neck was fractured too?

What is more amazing is Gomez can put a 200lb man into a net but a hockey puck is impossible.

Took 13 posts until someone turned this into a discussion about him.

I was thinking it'd be around 20, but hey, I stand corrected.

I blame the moorings. Those sneaky little buggers are always purposely elevating the net, so unsuspecting players hit the posts or cross-bars face first.

I missed the part where Kelly was taken off on a stretcher. Did he go to the movies today or partake in a bobsled ride at Lake Placid instead? Do the Habs have an equivalent to the masterful Dr. Mark Recchi? I never noticed Gomez stalking Kelly.

What exactly is the comparison again?

Same type of comments than Boudreau's whining about how Green is targeted....Strange how it affects you more when you're implicated...

Hey Boudreau and Julien, if you can't deal with that, stop going at the rink....

Gold

I'll give Julien credit for some changes last game that were timely, but he needs to shut up and play Seguin, so Bruin fans stop *****ing about him not playing.

Just watch NESN, go to Bruins boars or read Boston news papers, they live in a very closed world.

Gomez didn't know the goal was there - In fact, he always isn't aware of where the goal is.

So his boss thinks that Gomez on Kelly was a strong hockey play? Nice to know.

Carry on.
