That was a good game and Schenn stepped in and just found his place. Holloway had another great game too. That Manch team is really very good when they play their game.
Are we really that much better than Bingo? I thought OTT sent half their roster down
Glad our boys are stepping up...
Having your parent club send down a bunch of players doesn't always help. The Kings sent down a bunch to Manchester several seasons ago (Corvo, Avery, and a few others that I am not recalling right now) and the Monarchs were bounced in the first round. Everyone thought we were going to roll through the post season, but we didn't
It's great to see this group of guys stepping up. They looked pretty good tonight and just exploded in the final period. I am hoping I DON'T have to go to a game on Friday night! Let's finish this tomorrow night
Just out of curiosity, how does the seeding go in the AHL playoffs? It doesn't seem to be top seed vs. bottom seed.
And as such, if Manchester wins this round, who are their next potential opponents?
Well, the don't seed by conference like the NHL. They seed by division so the top 4 seeds in each division make the playoffs BUT if a 5th place team in one division has more points than the 4th place team in the other division, the 5th place team moves into the other division for the playoffs. Which is how Bingo made it into our division. They bumped Worcester, which was our 4th seeded team. The next round would also be divisional so it's either Portland or Connecticut, whoever comes out of that series. Confusing, I know
This is how the seeding ended up for our division"
1 Portland
2 Manchester
3 Bingo (they had more points than our 3rd and 4th seed)
4 Connecticut

Oh how I remember Corvo and company coming back to Manchester.....came back with their "LA attitudes", it's not like that group played like crap, they didn't even play that good. Lost the series to Bridgeport 3 - 0.
Monarchs have a good group playing now. As much as I'd like to clinch at home on Friday, I'd really like the Monarchs to wrap up the series tomorrow night.

We are missing key guys on our defense which has created huge holes and too many odd man rushes..Gryba, Hale, Smitty and Columbine out w/ injuries and it's killed us..
Not taking away from your team as it looks pretty solid on all aspects..Bingo will not win 3 in a row from you guys, we are done..

Good luck next round..
We're missing our captain (Marc-André Cliche), most skilled forward (Andrei Loktionov), 2nd most skilled forward (Oscar Moller), traded a defenseman who was in the top-4 at the trade deadline. No excuses

We are missing a lot of key guys too - Moller, Cliche, Tuebert, Loktionov - but that's the life of the AHL. I guess it's all about who steps up when you need them to, and luckily, we've had players that have done that so far in this series. Thanks for the good luck, but this series is far from over.
edit: Sorry, AKAY47 - I'd been writing up this post as the same time you posted your thoughts, funny though how similarly we saw it
