Luongo-Montreal trade rumor a `total fabrication'

A report in Tuesday's edition of The Montreal Gazette said there was a rumor floating that the Florida Panthers were entertaining the idea of trading star goalkeeper Roberto Luongo.

But nothing could be further from the truth, a team official said.

''I can honestly say it's a flat no,'' said Jack Birch, the Panthers' director of hockey operations. "That's a total fabrication.''

Birch said many rumors get started on Quebec's French sports radio. The rumor had Luongo, an All-Star in the 2003-04 season, going to...

Hold on, I just hear on 610 WIOD that LUONGO IS GOING TO BE TRADED FOR THEODORE AND RYDER. Can someone please dispell this for me? I have an adrenaline rush right now and my stomach is turning circles.

Reported on Big 106 this morning. Sounds to me its more like a CYA situation than the rumor bein false. Bouwmeester bein shopped for Pronger and now Luongo bein shopped for a more "proven" goalie? All this rumor, yet Keenan isn't done wheeling and dealing? With Keenan's track record, one has to be gullible to actually believe there isn't a margin of truth behind these rumors. Keyword bein "margin".

BTW, reason supposedly according to the guy on Big 106 is Theo is lookin for a big payday, and with the Cats havin cap room, someone might overpay to unload a salary.
