Julien is an overweight idiot, the most over rated coach in the NHL and will not be behind the bench for any NHL team next season so I am not worried at this point about what he say's or doesn't say.

I heard they will add padding on the goal posts following this vicious, life-threatening play by Gomez. To be safe they will make them really big.

I think I heard Benoit Brunet was looking at Kelly in the net and screaming 'GET UP!!!' too.

RDS also taped a video in front of the TD Garden in which Brunet bashes losers and rightfully says how Eddie Shore is spinning in his grave at seeing his gold and black sweater worn by these guys.

I think people are over-reacting.

If you accept the Bruin argument that Chara didn't realize where he was and made what would be a normal hockey play, but at a horrible point on the ice... you could easily see how the Gomez play is similar. It was an innocent play that nearly went sideways because of where they were.

Fair enough.

Mind you, I don't believe Chara didn't know where he was on the ice, but I would assume if anyone on the planet thinks it was an accident, it's Claude Julien. Just because Pacioretty got hurt by Chara, doesn't mean that play wasn't ugly.

I think what set him off was that Kelly's face hit the post. Chalk it up to a hockey play and two small-ish forwards were skating full out. Glad everything wasn't worse. I can see why he'd say that but I also think he probably should have said it a different way. Lastly, it's the reporters who keep bringing Z-Patches into everything.

First Chara almost putting an end to Pacioretty's career

Then Recchi saying that Pacioretty was faking

Now Julien saying this

wow

Boston is trash

100% agree and people call Montreal and their fans delusional. This really takes it to other level.

The goal comes off rather easily. I'm sorry for Kelly, he bruised his chin, I'm sure it didn't feel great...

I wish I could say the same about the stanchion. Max would be playing right now.

Not all of us are trash..

Not sympathizing on either side fwiw. Julien was asked a question and he answered. You can't lay the blame squarely on him. He was prompted. The media keeps bringing up the incident pre, during and post game. Just wish it would end.

What was the question? Maybe I'm misinterpreting but to me it could be the media brought up the Gomez / Kelly incident and Julien elaborated while making a comparison. IDK

I sooo agree with this. They still talk about it on the radio all the time.

You would think that Montreal would be the one that kept bringing this up seeing as it was OUR player that was injured, but no they just let it die in Montreal but in Boston it comes back again and again and again...

Then again, when most of the media people here seem more interested in talking about diving and flopping (I do not think any Montreal player is ever allowed to fall on the ice once, ever without it being a dive) than about actual hockey, it's not all that surprising. When the majority has no freaking idea about what's going on on the ice and think Chara had a great game in game 1, they will fall back on what they can understand : demagogy.

Most of the time they cut the questions out or drown the audio to only hear the coach. I believe he was asked how Chris Kelly was after taking the hit. I think he was trying to say that it was a hockey play. I don't think he meant to bring up the incident but was prompted when someone asked if it were like Patches/Z.

Another classic case of great manipulation by a reporter.

I believe Claude was a bit miffed because Kelly hit his head and due to the team's history, they tend to be sensitive.

Kelly possibly broke a facial bone on the play but is expected to play tomorrow.

So Dr. Recchi hasn't seen Kelly yet?
