Final Game in Phoenix?

I'm curious what this would do to the pacific division and what direct impact this would have on the Kings.

Also, how likely is this move?

After much uncertainty in this whole thing we can now, finally say that we're 100% sure that the Coyotes will move... Or stay. Yes, in 100% of the scenarios the Phoenix Coyotes are either in Glendale or not in Glendale!

Finally! Progress!

Seriously though, it's looking like something like 95% chance they'll move.

When the Coyotes move back to Winnipeg, I expect Colorado to move to the Pacific Division and Winnipeg to move to the Northwest Division.

This makes the most sense.

Does anyone think playing next years version on colorado 6 times could be a little easier than playing next years version of the yotes?

I've alway thought some of these powerhouse teams (detroit and vancouver) might have a little bit harder time maintaining their elite status playing in a little tougher division such as the pacific.

I think it would be great for the sport to have another canadian market.

This is by far the most likely outcome. I expect they will want to keep Vancouver in a division with 3 other canadian teams, and Minny/Winnipeg will have an instant rivalry with how close they are.

And btw, next year's coyotes/jets will not resemble this years if they move. Bryzgalov for sure would not move, and Doan is likely to retire. Not to mention to other 7-8 FA's on the roster. Same thing happened when Winnipeg moved several players left or retired rather than move.

And this board might be seeing less of me. My allegiances are going to be split, I will have no idea who to cheer for when Winnipeg plays the Kings. I'll be getting season tickets though.

If Colorado moves to the Pacific, they should change the name of the division to Southwest at the same time to better reflect the teams in the division. The drawback to this move is that it means the Northwest division has 4 Canadian teams. That's a lot for one division.

I'm fine with that move, if only to have a weaker team in the division. 5 playoff-caliber teams in the same division is the pits.

I wouldn't mind seeing this alignment either:

LA
Anaheim
Vancouver
Colorado
San Jose

Winnipeg
Calgary
Edmonton
Minnesota
Chicago

Dallas
Nashville
Detroit
St. Louis
Columbus

It's going to be an odd end to the game if they lose. I wonder how many of the fans will stick around for a while after the game for a sense of closure, just in case? Gotta be tough if you've been a fan for the whole time they've been there.

^ And what an epic journey that will be for Shane Doan should they return to Winnepeg.

I agree they need to put them in Minny's division the Wild get screwed out of not seeing the Hawks and Wings 6x each. Having a team that close will help them. 4 Western Canada teams in the same division is OK for me, might make Edmonton decide to play hockey instead of gunning for the #1 pick every year.

Will the queen still be larger than life in the new arena because if she isn't then they should just remain in hell where they are now.

Is there a bigger culture shock in hockey going from Phoenix to Winnipeg? Love the idea of the Jets back in business though, still have memories of Zhamnov and Selanne tearing up the NHL.

I hope Colorado moves to the Pacific. It means I get to see the Kings here more often.

It will be an interesting offseason for the Yote fans, I don't envy them being in that position. Hopefully we will see them stay, it means less travel for the Kings.

Hawks will not be moved away from St Louis and Detroit

Hawks already lost North Stars and Maple Leafs as rivalries. Wirtz is just as powerful as his old man and he will not see our last rivals from Norris disappear

And the usual retort of they would have the Wild is weak ,, Hawk fans dont care about the Wild and never will. We hated the North Stars

Colorado makes most sense since they wont split up Canada's teams in all likelyhood

Broncos already have rivalry with Chargers and Raiders
Rockies have rivalries with Pads , Dodgers and Giants

So another Denver area team in div with Cali teams makes alot of sense

It's really too bad if they are moving that the NHL didn't give the Phoenix fans a chance to say goodbye.

Couldn't you just as easily switch Winnipeg and Vancouver? I've always thought it odd that the Nucks are where they are... Only problem is, currently if you do that the Pacific becomes easily the best division in the NHL, and the Northeast becomes the worst hands down...

It also seems strange to have 4 of the 6 Canadian teams in one division (4 Canadian teams + Minnesota). If you put Vancouver in the Pacific, there is a better balance.

The best for the Kings though would be for Colorado to move to the Pacific (and rename the division to Southwest while they're at it). The last thing I want is for Vancouver to be in the Pacific. The division is tough enough as it is.
